How far have you gotten into hard mode?

I'm currently stuck at monster X.

I've made it past the Core on my Polar Star hard mode run, but I wanted to do it with the machine gun as well so I'm at Monster X on that save and Mimiga Village on the other.

I stopped playing once I got to the sand zone. So insanely difficult.

I died at the Undead Core. Since getting there is so tedious I am stuck at the Prefab Building. Would probably have defeated it with the 5 extra HP from that dog.

Anyway, going to restart Hard Mode anyway for a perfect game there. Some missable items should make the battles easier.

As for Monster X:
After the four green cores are destroyed, get hit by a red laser wall to downgrade the blade to level 2. Then attack the Monster X from below when it stands and defend yourself from the rockets with the level 3 Bubbler. I did it second try with that strategy. Alternatively, keep the blade on level 3 and attack with it.

I'm at the prefab building as well. The final cave(hidden) was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard. The red ogre alone killed me like 10 times.

I'm currently at the prefab building as well. Fighting what amounts to six bosses in one single run is certainly difficult, but it's all in good spirits I guess.

At least before I put my keyboard out the window.

I beat it with the normal ending. :D

That final straight of bosses was brutal. As was not noticing that a stone block thing was not in the background, consequently getting squished because I ran into it, and having to beat all of the bosses again. :o

This was my first run, so I had no idea about the better ending and whatnot. I got the booster v0.8, so I couldn't save Curly. I did find the dog with the health canister, though, but that may have been because I read about it somewhere.

Gave up at Monster X. I doubt I could beat Ballos with 3 hp. :(
