I don't believe that it is, at least from my digging around. This was certainly established for the console versions as well. If there are any differences, they are minimal editing. The only real censored versions are the German and Aussie ones (as usual) - and that is really only for some alterations to camera angles in some cut scenes.

anyway i am activate US version.

I'm not sure what country you are in, or what your actual question to Support was.

However, as far as I know from the game's PC and console releases, there are only two cut versions classified, the rest are as intended:

The US version is the ESRB (M) [Mature 17+]

The UK version is the "PEGI - 18+", & "BBFC - 18"

The Austria/Swiss version is the "PEGI - 18+"

The EU general version is the "PEGI - 18+"

The German version is the "USK - rejected/18 (cut)"

The Australian version is the "OFLC - rejected/MA15+ (cut)"

http://www.silenthillmemories.net/sh5/versions_en.htm

The game was released on September 30, 2008 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and on November 6, 2008 for the PC in North America. All versions were simultaneously released in Europe on February 27, 2009. Initially, the game was banned in Australia, but was later released with the MA15+ rating and censored graphics. The Japanese release of the game was canceled entirely...

...Due to censorship laws, the game was banned in Australia until February 2009, at which time only the PlayStation 3 version was released. Noticeable modifications were made to certain scenes to supposedly make them less explicitly violent. For example, in the scene where Judge Holloway drills into Alex's leg, a hospital bed is conveniently placed in front of the camera, obscuring the actual drilling. When the drill is pushed into the Judge's face, the screen is merely black with the sound still heard in the background. When the judge falls to the floor, the drill is no longer lodged in her jaw, and completely missing from the scene. Also, when Alex's father is later cut in half by the Bogeyman, as the camera pulls back to reveal the scene, his remains have in fact vanished altogether. The player can still examine the scene, and Alex will still say "The remains of my father", despite there being none.

Censorship

Homecoming had difficulties in passing censors in some countries before it could go on sale. The Australian classification board, the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC), refused to classify the game, due to "impact violence and excessive blood effects".[50] The objectionable scenes included various body parts being drilled into, as well as the bisection of a character by an enemy.[50] This had the effect of banning the game for sale in the country, and representatives for publisher Atari mentioned that they would be asking Konami to tone down the violence to allow the game to receive the needed MA15+ rating for its sale to be permitted in early 2009.[50]

The German version of the game was also postponed to 2009 in order for cuts to be made to pass the German censors after the uncensored version was rejected by the Unterhaltungssoftware Selbstkontrolle.[51] The game was re-submitted after being altered in the same way as the Australian version and received the highest rating possible as a result (Freigegeben ab 18 Jahren gemäß § 14 JuSchG, meaning 18+).

On November 19, 2010, the Amtsgericht Frankfurt am Main confiscated all Xbox 360 versions imported from the UK (thus being uncensored) for violation of § 131 StGB (representation of violence), effectively banning it from sale within Germany.[52] The censored version, however, may still be sold to adults without any legal penalties.

Yes, it's different legal certification board in each country/region so sometimes publishers will release a version for each place as they have to have each one approved separately. If there was any major difference, it would be reported.

Steam Support do not always properly read what you write to them, so they sometimes give you a general answer.

I hate that! They should just include a censorship lock on all version then there wouldn't be a problem.

There is no evidence in Sidikian's post to back that assertion.

If you read the whole thread you could see there are no facts that the game is significantly modified in any version apart from the German and Aussie releases.

The most I have been able to find is that there may have been a different camera angle used for one shot in the final cut-scene. That's it.

I dunno about the PC version but I used to own the UK version on the 360 and that was not censored.

Just finished the game (again) on PC this time. The UK version isn't censored at all.

The drill scene still makes me cringe. Ouch!

If you have any saves from just after the Scarlet Finch fight could please upload them? I have that damn bug in my copy where it is impossible to process past the battle.

I'll try. I'm not up to that point yet.
Just to let you know though I'm on my second playthrough on hard mode using one of the alternate costumes (Young Alex) and have both of the special weapons.
