Trying to figure out how to use a gamepad

I have absolutely no idea how to use a gamepad for this game. I tried looking things up, but everything i found seems to only apply to 360 controllers. I have a logitech F310 if that makes any difference. If someone could help me out, it would be really appreciated. I cant stand playing this with the mouse and keyboard.

Set the switch on the back of your controller to X (Xinput aka X360 emulation)
