Crash on launch

I get a load screen and the game shuts off. I tried both highest and lowest settings possible and tried reinstalling several times. -.-

Same here, never had this issue until now. I use a Nvidia Geforce 470 and AMD X6 1055t on Windows 7.

UPDATE:
Fixed, turns out it was my webcam that causes the crash. You can either unplug your camera or disable it in the device manager.

Webcams are causing this kind of issues. Especially virtual ones (like ManyCam).

neither this or changing my compatibility to service pack 3 works, balls.

You have to uninstall any webcam and/or streaming programs you have such as VHScrCap or XSplit; simply selecting "None" in the config won't make it work.

Not sure if this will help you, but it worked me in the end.

Do not fiddle with the compatibility mode on the games exe files.

Quit totally out of Steam and find the steam.exe (c:\program files\steam\steam.exe) etc and set the compatibility to Windows XP SP3 and Run as Administrator options. The game runs like a dream now.

Just tried this as well:

Leave the steam.exe compatibility as standard (no changes from default) and set the compatibility on the Steam desktop icon instead also works 100%.

So far, has not killed any of my other games.
