View Full Version : Fallout 3 crashing issues...

Bought Fallout 3 GOTY on steam during the sales, but am running into a quite annoying issue. After about 1-15 min. of gameplay, it will randomly crash. There isn't a certain action that causes it (like opening doors, or using vats). Though at times it will run for 40 min+ without crashing. I have tried MANY tricks, most of the ones I could find on this forums and others. Even tried the cpu thread trick, but it didn't affect it.

I am running mods, but only a few, and I have ran it with the mods disabled, but still the same problem. And it shouldn't be my system's specs (win 7,core i7, gtx 470,4gigs of memory, plenty of HDD space, etc), video drivers are the newest release, even updated Microsoft .NET. I have also tried running steam in admin mode, and win xp SP2 mode(yes, I know it's not recommended, but I had to try :/ ) I am only running 3 mods, Shojo race, Apocalypse armory, and children of the wasteland. All seem to be popular mods, and don't say anything about conflicting with each other (though like I stated earlier, disabling them had no affect).I have tried the D3d9.dll file too with no luck, and have all the DLC checked in load order with the suggested load order of the mods. (and yes, I have the archive invalidation thing checked in FOMM)

So as of now I'm stumped, I love this game (played the heck out of it on the console) and wanted to try it with new mods and such; but clearly I'm stuck in a hole. Any help would be much appreciated, and thanks in advance!

I also am having random crashes with this game after buying it in a sale.

I have not tried any fixes yet, but nor do I have any mods installed, and I can see no reason why it would suddenly crash, then keep crashing.

try this, http://www.pdsys.org/blog/post/2009/02/07/Fallout-3-VideoDisplay-Freezes-sound-keeps-going.aspx also make sure the game is not using ffdshow. If it is go to the ffdshow audio settings and add fallout3.exe to the exceptions
