Title, really... I click play, the ring around my avatar turns green for about 2 seconds, and then turns back to blue. Nothing else happens.
I've validated, reinstalled, validated again, and just ended up confused.
What do I do? I really want to play this game, it looks pretty good.

Have you guys tried messing with the launch options? try using -fullscreen -w xxxx -h xxxx (x) being the resolution you use, or you can try running it in windowed mode (-windowed). That's all I can think of, not sure on the Steam version I bought my copy from Gamersgate.

I just tried that in fullscreen, no luck.

Have you visited the game's website?
http://qube-game.com/
There's an FAQ that lists possible reasons for the game not launching, chief among them being NET Framework not being installed on your PC.

I looked in "F:\Steam\steamapps\common\qube\203730_install.vdf" and saw
"%INSTALLDIR%\\Binaries\\InstallData\\dotNetFx40_Fu ll_setup.exe" but I didn't realized that the game setup ran .NET-setup.
So I ran "F:\Steam\steamapps\common\qube\Binaries\InstallDat a\dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe", started Windows Update.
It made 3 updates to .NET.
It took quite a long time installing these updates, rebooted my computer, but nothing's changed.
The game doesn't start.

The FAQ says how one should react when getting error messages.
But I don't get any message. The game simply doesn't start.
So unfortunately this FAQ doesn't help me solving my problem.

I'm going to try reinstalling DirectX, it's possible that I haven't got a working copy ATM. I'm fairly sure Terraria uses DirectX, but hey, it's worth a shot.

I can start the game now! :)
I had to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package

Starting to believe that this game cannot run on new systems, windows 7 64 bit at this time, cause I tried everything, install, unistall, my system has the lasest drivers and windows updates.
I guess I cannot get a refund , really giving up.I will not buy games that are new on steam, will wait for 6 months, then buy.
I am not only one with this issue.

if your pc is very new it has a newer microsoft visual redistributable package and the game will not run. your PC also will not dowload an older version because it has the newer one.

Hello guys.
I'm interested in trying out the demo. I downloaded it with full of hopes, then the game didn't launch.
I did as you say and updated the .net, and the redistributes. Now the game launches (black screen with hourglass mouse appears for a momment) then instantly I get the "qube_demo.exe has stopped working" error.
I have no idea what to do. I tryed to launch it in xp compatibility, it didn't help.
I have win 7 x64 with an ati x1600 pro video card. As far as i know it supports pixel shader 3.
Do you have any help?
Thumper.

It seems Steam has updated QUBE. It appears the updates worked. I am running Win 7 x64 and was having the same problem before the game update.
