I'm curious about how coop works in AI Wars. Do all players share the same homeplanet? Do other players gain science points from the planet you are gathering intel on with science lab too? If you deplete a planet's science resource can the other player get it too? I'm really curious about how the system works.

1) Each player has their own planet, but can build on allies worlds too :)
2) YES, always remember to get your research from every world, allied or not
3) Yes, Knowledge 9the science consumeable) is per-player, so everyone has their own pool to gather and spend as they seem fit (Allowing a group of players to diversify the combined fleet so to speak)

Can the host also pause the game when he feels like it?

Either player can from memory (been quite a while since I last did a coop where there was a pause), but if not both then the host certainly can

Yep, any player can at any time. There is also multiplayer save and resume. And you can add more players to existing games later on if you want, though it works most seamlessly if you have all players in there from the start.
