I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to get rid of the Predator crosshair, so that you only have the three dots to aim with. If there isn't a way, it's no big deal. But it'd be kinda cool to play with it this way. More "realistic" :)

Really, this kind of topic again? Playing without crosshairs isn't going to make the game anymore "realistic" than "Realistic Difficulty".
The game is still a game and let alone it's still a game about rival alien species that don't exist in reality.
And to actually answer your question. NO.
And no it would NOT be cool. Aiming the speargun would be more of a pain in the ♥♥♥ than it already is.

It can be done in about 5 minutes if you know how to mod the game.

It's your game OP and you are certainly entitled to play the way you want, if there is a way, but I really don't understand why people seem to think no crosshairs makes a game more realistic. Crosshairs serve the same purpose in a game as the gun sites on a real weapon do. Without an in game iron site or a crosshair you don't know where the bullets will go. Despite what you see in movies or on TV you ain't going to hit crap in real life without using a guns sites.

Umm... no need to get so pissed off, guys -__-. I was more referring to the fact that in the movies, the Predator does his aiming entirely with the three dot sight, and it would be cool to have to do that in-game. That's why "realistic" is in quotes.

...which I really don't. Do you have any pointers on how I might get started?

Since you probably don't have AvP Gold you can try using this program:
http://www.fileplanet.com/45446/40000/fileinfo/Texture-Infector
After it's installed you can open the fastfiles located inside the "fastfile" folder. Tex1.FFL contains the texture with the predator crosshair icon. Open with Texture Infector, extract HUDfonts.rim as a tga file, open HUDfonts.tga in Photoshop, cover the crosshair with black, import the new tga file back into Tex1.FFL with Texture Infector, double click on the file and make sure you put a check in the box next to Transparent and select red with the eyedropper. Remember to backup everything.

Ahh, awesome. I've never tried doing any modding, but considering this is kinda my pet game, now might be a good time to start. Thanks.
