menu screen fires up gfx card to 100%

Whenever I load any of the CM games (happens with a few other games too) and it's on the menu screen my gfx card fires up to 100% and the fan starts going full pelt. In game it sits there quietly doing its job without breaking a sweat. Is there any way to prevent it doing this? It's a GTX560Ti with the latest beta drivers.

This may be a bit of a necro-reply, but perhaps enabling Vsync (video settings) might help.

I know of another game (Legend Of Grimrock, I think) that caused heat issues without Vsync enabled but don't recall the technical details of the issue. Perhaps your issue is related(?).

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've had VSync forced on in the nvidia settings since day one so I figured I'd try different combinations of in game/in driver settings. CM seems fine but CM1.5 still fires up to about 92% but the fans didn't sound like they were powered by a Merlin engine so that's a slight improvement. I've upgraded the driver since making the original post so maybe something's changed in them.

I'm playing CM Elements at the moment and that seems fine too :)
