I don't get this game at all

I have been wanting this game for a few months, finally got it on the sale, and I am completely confused with this game...? I have no clue what to do and where to start.. lol

Can't be any more straightforward: people need to go from their homes to workplaces and back ... you need to provide such traffic. If you don't, cars will clog the cities.

People think it's as simple as put lots of buses or trains, but it's actually a very complicated issue when you have to care for budget, city cover, service speed and quality and such.

How do I understad mechanics of this game:

You have 3 base types of transport: buses, trams and metro. There is also helicopters and water transoprt but usually you don't need them.
Build trams on main roads and try to make stops on the grass between road lines if there are any so you will not stop traffic and make jam. Build bus lines on secondary roads. Then interconnect bus lines and tram lines - just put both stops nearby so passengers can go from busses to trams. In fact I think this junction points are main points of money generation. You can make one passenger pay three times when he uses bus, then tram and finally another bus. Finally you can build metro lines between tram lines.

When all else fails (tutorials etc), I hit up Youtube and watch a let's play of the game at hand to get the immediate justs of it. Maybe it would help you too Toad if you checked out a few CiM videos over on youtube
