Hi guys,
my problem is already describe on 3D realms forum (this thread) (http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=3492), the game close at the end of the same section with the same message again and again : "Exception:
"Invalid data read from an R_MemoryFile("part1_level1.ldb")".
The solution found on 3D realms forum can't work for my case, because it suppose you go explore the install CD to replace the damaged file. Not easy for a steam user ;-)
I tried to desinstall/reinstall the game without any effects. If somebody has a clue, I'll be really grateful.
Thanks by advance.

Mmm, it seems to indicate some kind of incompatibility between the game and the chipset and soundcard used, from what is described there. You have not stated what hardware you are using, so that is the first thing I have to ask, what hardware, drivers and os are you using?
The second thing, copying the files over from the CD, should be the same as using steams 'verify integrity...' in the games properties, it checks if the files are okay and re-downloads them in case of trouble. Since you already reinstalled, and by doing so must have re-downloaded the files, it seems they are okay, and the problem is elsewhere.
Now there are several things you could try:
- use the soundpatch.
- unpack the entire game.
- use other (sound)hardware.
the soundpatch is on top of this forum, or at 3dr if you wish to get it there.
Unpack game: get the soundpatch, unpack it as instructed but don't execute it yet, this is your way of obtaining rasmaker.exe. Then do like steps 5-8 from this thread: http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showthread.php?t=27985 , extract all the .ras files and move them out of the main folder. That should leave you with a totally unpacked game without the large files needing to be accessed during play, and perhaps that will allow you to pinpoint the culprit.
Please report back how you managed and if you need assistance with any of the above, feel free to ask.
Best regards, Darkje

It seems like I missed some steps :
First of all thanks for your answer.
My config:
Windows 7 Premium Family Edition SP1
Processor Intel I5 2,27Ghz
4Go RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
I tried to check integrity, no files damaged were found.
I tried to use the soundpatch, no effects on my problem.
When I try RASmaker.exe a DOS window pops up and close immediately, game converted or not...

Hi,
I bet it's some kind of configuration issue, like a wrong driver, missing directX file, or perhaps a failing stick of memory. So maybe checking those will solve it.
The hardware and OS are okay, as far as I can see from that description... can't say much about the config or if the hardware itself is okay, you should test some other tests, games or benchmarks to determine that.
If you have a chance, try it on another machine, and see if you get it working there.
Clicking rasmaker is not enough, you must first open a commandprompt as admin, change directory to wherever rasmaker and the rasfiles are located, an then type some commands. As it seems you are not familiar with it, and it's way beyond the scope of me or the forum to give out a complete command prompt tutorial, it's probably best to look elsewhere, as it's a longshot and it really should be working without all that.
That's about all I can offer at the moment, I'm afraid, but ofcourse you are welcome to respond and tell how it went, maybe I can give you some more options from there.
