Seriously, no keyboard remapping?

I simply exited the game when I realized it was forced to WASD. I'm an ESDF person (because it's superior - gets you an extra row of left keys to map) I cannot play WASFD - my number keys are then off and the whole experience simply sucks.

I realize there is a 'plan' to add it. That's not the point. When you leave this BASIC funtionality off, you quickly get your software labeled 'crappy console port'. Sure, you can add it later, but I can pretty much tell you I won't bother. I'll have moved on to something else - it's not a 'different' enough game for me to bother coming back - maybe if it gets rave reviews, but that's about it. There's simply too many other games out there.

My point is - you have one chance to make a first impression. This is not how you show PC players that you understand them. There is no excuse that will make it 'ok'. It's no secret how the steam community is - we expect working demos. This demo, for a lot of us, is simply broke. For a lot of us, no demo = no buy.

Just my .02. Your mileage may very. Obviously I speak for myself, not the community but I've seen enough keyboard mapping rants to know there are lot of us out there.

EK

Where do they say there's a plan to add remapping? Do they also 'plan' to allow PC users greater control over graphics options?

For keymapping - http://forums.reckoning.amalur.com/showthread.php?2181-PC-controls-suck&p=41595&viewfull=1#post41595 (http://forums.reckoning.amalur.com/showthread.php?2181-PC-controls-suck&p=41595&viewfull=1#post41595)

As already posted in this thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2488883)

no idea if there will be any greater control over graphics options.

you're not very good at reading, OP. they didn't say there's a 'plan' to add movement remapping. they said it CURRENTLY EXISTS in the release version. the release version is the version people will be playing when the game is released. the demo version is several months old. demos aren't for showing minor technical additions, they're for demonstrating the gameplay. the gameplay is not going to change from the demo to the release.

i hope i was clear enough for you to understand.

if you refuse to play the game because the demo didn't have a feature you desire and then you failed to properly comprehend when someone else told you that your desired feature exists in the release... that's your loss. developers can't and shouldn't attempt to account for the stupidity and stubbornness of a small portion of the potential audience.

Well that's your opinion on what a demo is for - as I made it clear, apparently not well enough for you to understand, is that my comments were about the demo. I also made it plain that I, and a lot of people, won't play without a demo.

The demo is broke. I don't care how old it is. That is not my problem. Being told I have to actually buy the game to figure out if want it because they won't keep their demo up to date..well sorry that's unacceptable.

BTW, keyboard mapping isn't a 'feature' - it's a requirement on the PC. Maybe you should stick to consoles?

I'm still trying to figure out in what universe a demo that cannot allow me to properly play the game is DEMOnstrating anything except poor judgement on their part?

Dude, grow up. You've basically said 'gee the demo doesn't work but you should still buy the game because you might like it'. Really?

But please, toss a few more insults around. You're impressing everyone. I'm certainly smiling.

The demo is broke.

Well here's the thing, the demo is NOT broke. Just because you can't keymap like you're wanting, doesn't mean it's broke.
