If anyone actually comes to this board instead of the incorrect one that the store/game links to, Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga's SecuROM is finally removed :D

That's all the 500 mb "patch" is?

We don't what, if anything else was in the patch, but I can confirm that the DRM is gone (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showpost.php?p=28736686&postcount=1254) at the very least.

I agree with NK, there has to be something else in there. While I do wholeheartedly appreciate its removal, this game is pretty old for someone to just suddenly decide to go "uh, let's get rid of the drm" out of the blue like that.

Would you post if you hear anything, Goteki?

Except the developer has been trying to get of the DRM for at least a year.

This. Apparently there's been a lot of back and forth on the official forums for its removal and it finally got through end of November/beginning of December, but the Steam update wasn't followed up on successfully until today.

If the update was only for the DRM, the size of the patch may have been due to the old content system (assuming this game hasn't been migrated to the new content system yet).

I'm curious myself if anything else was changed though, and had planned to keep an eye open.

The patch was pretty much just DRM removal. The larger-than-normal size was apparently video files from other languages being replaced either due to an oversight or a change in their translations, but I haven't seen much about what exactly is different with them, if anything.

so if i buy this on amazon, it installs securom, then i have to use a patch to remove it?

I would assume so, unless new discs were made that include the recent patch (doubtful).

If you buy it from their digital game downloads section, which I assume you are due to the current $5.99 sale, then the Securom removal patch is already pre-applied.

Indeed, the new amazon version does not have any DRM.
