The Steam iOS app doesn't register the steam:// URL scheme, so if you happen to run across any of those links in Safari, you just get an error, rather than opening up the Steam app. Although many of the possible Steam URLs won't do anything in the mobile app, it's still better to jump into the Steam app than to let it be a Safari error.
