[Bug] Android - Message Notifications After Exiting App

I use the menu to exit the application, and the Ongoing Steam notification goes away, however if I received another message (I'm also signed in on Desktop, where I was continuing my conversation) it would still show notifications and alert me that I received new messages on my phone, even with the App supposedly closed.

I had to disable run as background, and even then it didn't fix it so I disabled IM chat on my phone. I hope that this is a bug and not a feature, as I like being able to pop open my phone and chat when I'm AFK, but I don't want to have to tinker with settings every time I get back home.

That's weird. I just tested this out myself but I didn't get any notifications. Maybe it is OS-specific? My phone is a Nexus S.

that's a feature. check background activity.
it's one of the things they did right, use c2dm (android push service) instead of letting the app run in the background.
