I haven't got into the beta but one thing I noticed while trying to log in at my college is that the app doesn't work when the wifi your using has a filter/website restrictions. (Please check your using a valid internet connection error)

It be nice if the app could be used anywhere and isn't affected by internet filters. Other wise people like myself have no need for the app when their college blocks half the internet. :(

I'm an android user, and I'm on payasyougo so using my phones internet costs, so using WiFi is free for me, before people suggest this to me. :L

You do realize that if they're blocking it then aside from using a VPN there's not much you can do. Valve can't do anything to "fix this".

Run a packet logger and see what gets returned. Steam Mobile uses standard HTTP and HTTPS, so as long as the APIs are available it should connect.
