so where might one acquire such a device so that one could build a trade station?

i plan to build each building type around a asteroid cluster so i can make money and make other neat things too.

"build constructor" (costs 1-3million depending on the system you buy it)

Then to build a trade station it'll cost you ~1+ million.(again, depending on the system you build it in)

Trade stations cannot be built within 2 sectors of another trade station, and more generally only 1 station can exist per sector.

A small correction.

You can build only 1 trade station/sector.
In the same sector as a trade station you can build 1 constructor station,
1 research station, 1 energy station and 1 ore processor as well.

A build Constructor can be found in high tech systems.
Try Pearl, Arvoch WZ, Rucker or Lost Rucker.
