Have you played the demo?

The demo is satisfying at killing people. The controls for the mouse and keyboard work very well. 10 minutes left and my pre-order download will be done :)

I didn't like the demo. It was pretty boring imo and just felt like a generic shooter with a little bit of a twist.
Story seems pretty uninteresting as well and I don't mind the graphic novel graphic style but the textures are pretty low res.
It doesn't seem to bring anything new or interesting and I've seen other games do what thing game does better.
Oh and there is no FOV option and it's way too narrow by default.
Anyway that's my opinion.
I'd wait for it to go on sale before I even consider getting it.

I've played the demo, found it interesting, though, just made this post for those that bought. And give us some insight :D

The demo is a must if you are on the fence. My curiosity was peaked by the screenshots and trailer. Then I tried the demo and was impressed enough to buy it. I hope I wont regret my purchase but I could not resist - that demo is very tasty indeed.

I don't really get what was "tasty" about it.
It really didn't seem like anything special to me.
The one positive thing I would say about it is that it runs pretty well and it has compatibility to enable AA through the Nvidia control panel.
Other than that the style is nothing new the gameplay is pretty generic and the story doesn't seem that good.
And seriously I don't usually complain about FOV (e.g. a lot of people complain about the FOV in Dead Space but I don't think it's that bad) but it's so low in this game I can't stand it.
I just don't really understand all the praise this game is getting. Well I guess it is getting more praise on console than PC.

There's only so many various variations of "point and shoot." Expecting something fresh and new from a FPS is a lost cause. There won't be anything new in FPS until it dies out and makes a comeback years later when everyone forgot what it was like.

Definitly try the demo out...be prepared it might hook you! Anyways, I've only played for about 30 mins so far. I will say this, when it comes to dishing out pain through a first person view, this game captures it quite brutally. Art style is nice and refreshing, lush and clear. The "gore" so to say is quite satisfying.
Wishbone anyone?

The only reason i didn't get this game, is because i have played too many FPS and Battlefield 3 is a let down for me because it would not launch so i am very cautious on doing first day buy (my rig can handle it. i have an asus g73jh). Before the FPS became a hit, i was big on the rpg and strategy games, so im cutting on FPS and going back to rpg and strategy.

Well, to be honest, it's an opinion and some people would like to be heard. Certain ways of going about it, least he wasn't saying anything negative towards us, just in regards to the game itself.
I happen to find it tasty, though.

You are right to an extent but the game should at least feel like it's special in some way.

Errm...it does feel special in some way. Quad weilding? Thats pretty original and I don't believe I have seen a first person shooter accomplish this.
I can pick up a car door and use it for cover whilst blazing away with my dual pistols and than chuck the door with enough momentum to decapitate someone...all while being mobile...thats not special? Not even a LITTLE?

It's a pile of garbage unless it's a FPS/RPG/RTS hybrid that allows for custom content, free weekly DLC and with a 500 hour campaign.
Gamers these days set their expectations way too high.
I think I'm a minority of gamers these days that purely ask myself "is the game fun?" or "does it have a good story?" when looking at purchasing something.
OP: From my understanding, the game is a bit short. Roughly a 6 hour campaign and 3 hour co-op campaign. I don't normally expect mega length for games like this, but 6 hours seems a bit short to me for the price.
I'll probably be waiting to pick this up on sale, since there's nowhere for me to rent games since Blockbuster folded.

I like the game, there is a lot to like here. The various skills to unlock can be a lot of fun. You can really feel the guns in the game. They all feel like pile drivers and are very satisfying. If you are a fan of the comic then this is pretty great. It has an original story and managed to capture the feel of the comic with graphic style very well. It got an 80 from PCGamer, and I'm inclined to agree. It's a great game with a few shortcomings but they do seem to have DLC planned which is awesome.

Nevermind Dragon Age 2... Ugh. They clearly have a price and were bought in the past.
I would highly recommend getting the game. It lets you dual wield guns and have 2 darkness arms to rip apart enemies. If you arent quite sold on just the fps aspect of it then get it for the story. The voice acting is great as the characters actually convey emotion. Jackie and Jenny feel like real people and they suck you into their lives and you just want to know more. I wont spoil the ending(s) but they are good as well

I just finished the game about an hour ago; If you were into the Darkness 1, i'd say definitely get this. A very, very worthy sequel IMO.
If you are new to the Darkness series, it's hard to say, as everyones opinion can differ. The demo would be your best bet in the decision. This game had both VERY solid shooting/combat and storytelling wrapped into one (a nice and equal mix of both).

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I haven't played an fps this satisfying in years.
Anyone mildly interested in this game or the demo needs to pick this one up.

Dude, you moan to much.
A lot of people are interested from the last game and the people that also read the comic books.
From what I know the first game didn't follow the comic books well but this one does.
Maybe it is the fan base for the game who knows?
CoD gets a lot of praise way to much in my opinion. But you don't see me going "eh, it doesn't do anything new" I just ignore it and play games I enjoy rather than trying to put people off.
I like it since the defeating enemies is satisfying and it looks fun and the atmosphere to it is dark but still has that full blown action feel and is fast paced.
But seriously people we get it with the FoV get over it.
