I honestly can't play games under 80 fov, if anyone knows how to change it please help me out here. Otherwise I'll be playing Gotham City Impostors until then.

Yea, it's pretty bad, especially considering the "tentacles" that further block your view and give a more pronounced 'tunnel vision'.

It looks 65° or so... Very unpleasant. No AA options either. Tsk tsk.

Some people are also complaining about the art direction, for the characters mostly. I have no problem with that, I actually kinda like it.

Yuh. FOV sucks tho.

Hmm. So bad. It's almost like the FOV was the same from the demo. :|

Who'd of guessed? Save for anyone with an actual brain.

Im usually the first person to change the fov in every game, but i didn't find the demo that bad at all.

It wouldn't matter if the FOV was 120; it would still be so narrow that it gives at least one forum user a headache and projectile vomit.

feels like the FOV is like 40... lol

The FOV for this game is reportedly around 75, but I use my FOV workaround to help me so I don't have any problem so that information could be wrong. With my way, it's not even noticeable.

Half-Life 2 had a FOV of 75. This looks no way like it. Singularity had 60. This is rather 40-45.

You're crazy. I can usually manage for a little while on most games with no FoV option, but this was just terrible. I started feeling sick from playing after 10 minutes.

As did Doom 3, RAGE, Duke Nukem Forever.... and tons of other games.
But, I remember people complaining about RAGE and DNF's FOV being to small. When they were both the standard 75.

So, the FOV here... doesn't bother me. If it's "said" to be at 75... it very well could be. The demon arms on the side do tend to make the screen look narrower.

The standard is 90.

RAGE had an FoV of 80 and can be easily changed.

They patched in an FoV slider in DNF.

Doom 3 had 90.

All the major PC FPS of the previous 15 years that defined the genre and brought the shooters to the consoles (which is the reason why we 're having those issues on every damn new game that is multiplatform-developed) had FOV 90. First one to have 75 was HL2. Anything below 75 is unacceptable for the PC and this is the case with Darkness 2. It clearly is <=60.

Don't make me laugh about Rage and DNF, those games were made with the consoles in mind first. J. Carmack has already admitted and regretted that and the 2-weapons inventory and regenerating health of DNF were clearly decided for the consoles.

Update: Until they fix it (IF they bother), your only way is to follow these memory hack steps as described here: http://widescreengamingforum.com/forum/forums/gaming/requestdiscuss-game-solutions/19429/darkness-ii-demo-fov-broken-same-dark-sector

I honestly can't figure out how FOV can bother anyone. Maybe I just can't feel nausea from a game's default FOV, but if I change the FOV to be /bigger/ than what the game was originally, it makes my eyes hurt a /lot/. Dunno if monitor size has anything to do with it. I run on a 21.5 inch LCD.

That's because you are uninformed. See these videos to understand.

I grew up playing FPS since Doom so I got used to 90 FOV. I got a 16:10 monitor and that was around the time console ports with lower FOV became more common, I can't get used to anything below 80, so I've using a lot of console commands/ini edits, etc. To me it has more to do with looking up/down, feels like i'm using a zoomed in scope. I like the FOVs to be around 90 for 4:3 ratios (used to be standard), 100 for 16:10, and 105 for 16:9 (like 1080p). Setting it too big feels like the camera is behind the player, so there's no right angle, just so it feels like natural head movement.

And once again it's up to the PC community to fix these problems.

Thanks for the fix. I will try it out.

Can you point me in the direction of where the config files are to change fov settings? I can't find the damn thing anywhere.

EDIT: Sorry miss-read your post.

Double EDIT: Holy fing ♥♥♥♥ the fov is 45.

You 'll have to arm yourself with a lot of patience there though, because this is not 100% working.

The reason I can't make a nice easy to use program like I did with EDF is because the game chooses a memory address at random every time it starts, it may even choose a new address at the start of each level so you'd have to minimize out and change the fov each time. Nightmare, if only devs knew what they were doing when it came to the pc platform. Hopefully if enough people badger them, they'll add a slider in the full game. I very very much doubt it though.

I'm sorry, but in this case the reaction is warranted. I've never, ever complained about FoV in a game, because it doesn't generally bother me. A FoV of 45, however, is enough to bother even me. It's pretty unplayable at the moment.

Just download the latest version of Widescreen Fixer (http://www.widescreenfixer.org/) and set your VERTICAL fov in the settings.

tip: 16:9 is 56-60. I'm using 58 and it feels like a good middle ground.

FOV is usually not a big deal to me. I thought you guys were nitpicking.

But this game's FOV is REALLY narrow, like wearing horse blinders. I've never got ill playing a game before this. I start to feel slightly sick after about 5 minutes.

Seems like it would be easy to provide a config file to tweak.

otherwise, the game is fun, well done.

That's because it's a 45 FOV. Never ever in the history of PC-FPS shooters has been a game with such a narrow FOV. It was the first time for me too that I could puke after 2 minutes of playing. In fact, just thinking of that horrible experience makes me sick already.

Config file is encrypted.

Config file is encrypted.

From what I hear its not encrypted its just a bunch of jiberish lol. Apparently the same type of coding was used in Dark Sector is used in this game and nothing came of FOV changes in that game. Hopefully though with Dark Sector being years old someone will find a method or the devs will patch in a FOV slider.

The Widescreen Fixer tool works better than a config file, because you can change values instantly. That's until the devs fix it, but I doubt they'll add a slider.

That's because it's a 45 FOV. Never ever in the history of PC-FPS shooters has been a game with such a narrow FOV.
That's VERTICAL fov, not horizontal. I don't know why devs started using it when there was a well established value decades ago. But anyway, 45 vert. fov is about 70-80 hor. I think.

Well Dark Sector was never fixed and none of the fan fixes ever worked. I do hope the devs are true to their word and release a new patch with FoV fixes.

Vertical FOV of 45 is about 65 Horizontal FOV. As you've said, it should be 75 which is about 90 H-FOV (on a 4:3 monitor). That's what PC-FPS used to have and it's the #(90) people used to know.

If you want the exact values, the default fov is 45 vertical which is 72 degrees horizontal.
