So I started up my game and all was fine, until I was asked to log in to my EA account. I put in the same info I always use, and was greeted with this message.
"The account information provided does not match the EA account that is already associated with this copy of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Please try reeentering the account information."
.... What?

Sounds like more of a problem on EA's end rather than Steam. I've never heard of Steam giving out used games before, normally once a code has been tied to an account it can't be sold on. I'd speak to EA first (since they have a live chat service) and look into it there, then open a ticket with Steam but you'll be waiting a good few days for a reply.

Yeah, sitting in the EA chat right now. I'm worried though they'll just tell me to ask Steam since I didn't buy it through Origin.

As much as everyone hates EA, their support tends to be ok, like 8 times out of 10 from when I've used them. They only tend to palm me off when they genuinely have no idea and even then they'll tell me clearly what to do. I hope it gets resolved.

Thanks, I'll report back on how it goes.
It should only apply to any content you unlocked from playing the demo at least. You should be able to close the EA login and play the game without logging into it fine with the Steam version - in the demo you could close it with the X at top right, then select an opt out button. I can't confirm that with the full game myself as I'm still waiting for it to unlock here.

You'll need to sign in to access the House of Valor questline, won't you?
Either way, it's an issue I'd like fixed.

Unless you are banned from their forums (and your games) for something someone else posted.

Well, EA support wasn't very helpful (well, he tried to be but didn't understand the problem I guess).
Sigh.

When you log into the game are you using the same credentials you use to log into Origin? If not that may be your problem. When I played the demo of this game the credentials I had to use were the same ones that I had tied to Origin/BF3.

Yes, I'm trying to use my Origin account. The same account I used to play the demo on Steam just last night.
Edit: Well this is strange. Just tried it with my US VPN, and all of a sudden it works. Oh well, glad to have that fixed.

Are you in EU? That would explain why it wouldn't take the login info, since the game isn't released over there yet. :(

All credit to the op for trying to get round the stupid idea that UK should suffer a three day wait, but did you not immediately think of this, (op that is) when you had a problem?

As the error it gave me didn't hint to that being a problem as well as EA not having done this in the past, I did not think of it, no.
