So after a nice day-long marathon, with the ending finally coming nearly seven hours after starting...that was a horrible ending. Anyone else disappointed by the sudden "Oh well, you lose" ending? So Jenny and The Angelus are one, and...Jackie and The Darkness are trapped together in hell? What, do we have to wait for future DLC to get anything else out of the story?

Or Darkness 3.

Personally, as a fan of the comics I liked 1 due to the origin story of it. But with 2 I was hoping for that reveal. Having the brotherhood and teasing the Angelus by mentioning it throughout the campaign was just asking for that reveal. When I first played the game I felt a bit let down that they did the Brotherhood, but that was it. Then they mentioned the Siphon, then the Angelus, and then the last relic in Hell.

After the Darkness said that you doom yourself freeing Jenny, I saw it coming. I was not disappointed either way.

As someone who did not read the comics, the ending made absolutely no sense to me.

Firstly, how did the darkness even get a hold of Jenny's soul? She got shot by that mob uncle dude, not killed by the darkness. She wouldn't have ended up in hell either because she was a good person supposedly.

Secondly, why didn't Jenny go all Angelus on Jackie when she was alive? Was she not yet of age before she got shot?

Lastly, why couldn't the Angelus let Jackie escape, then use that relic to trap the darkness, separating and sparing him? For a being of "light" its kind of a ♥♥♥♥ move.

With everything else Jackie has gotten himself out of, do you really think The Angelus would give him even a remote chance of getting back The Darkness? It has control over him, even if he doesn't admit it outright, and he would no doubt try to defeat The Angelus to get Jenny back, even if it meant working with The Darkness again.(Which is probably how The Darkness III is going to go, if there is a third game.) As for why The Angelus didn't take out Jackie before, maybe Jenny was holding it back, much like how Jackie held back The Darkness, or maybe The Angelus knew exactly how things would pan out in the end. That or it's entirely possible that The Angelus and Jenny weren't one and the same until they were trapped by The Darkness in Hell. Admittedly I haven't kept up with the comics, so I have no clue how any of that affects the storyline.

(Also, The Angelus likely wanted Jackie to stay locked up with The Darkness because of his actions as the Host. He wasn't exactly a good person, and did indeed use The Darkness for his own plans.

... I think they want the player to infer this from indirect sources.

you know those relics you have been picking up? Each one has description. There is one that trapped Angelus and Johnny remarks the Angelus haven't been seen for 70 years and since Jenny didn't die as a seventy year old it can be safe to assume that the Angelus can't do diddly squat while trapped in hell. This also explains why the Darkness let Jenny die since she is the last host of the Angelus. Now why would the Darkness would be stupid enough to grab Jenny after she die is beyond me.

Lastly, why couldn't the Angelus let Jackie escape, then use that relic to trap the darkness, separating and sparing him? For a being of "light" its kind of a **** move.

angelus is a ****. There is one relic that explains what happened to the brotherhood when it caught the darkness in a faulty device. It slowly drove the brotherhood to madness to the point that it gave the idea to the brotherhood that the best way to save the world is to destroy it. To save the world the last sane brotherhood member released it to only be annihilated by the Angelus for releasing the Darkness. The Angelus didn't care one bit that the world was saved.

The relics paint the picture that both the Angelus and the Darkness are bad beings that do whatever they want for their own pure ideals while fighting each other forever. Think of the yin/yang symbol combined with the snake that eats itself.
