View Full Version : Am I nitpicking?
Demo was pretty good. Combat was fun, but buggy for me - weapon switching doesn't show correct weapon, and quite a few pauses, like lag during combat (on a PC that runs everything butter smooth @ max settings).
Overall, I thought I might buy it, but then I find a huge console-caused imperfection - no tooltips. Go into a shop, and I have to actually click on something, choose view (or whatever it is), and then see the stats/description. Click again to go back to the list. Yea, that's 3 clicks and menu use to see what should have been shown in a tooltip after hovering for a second - but no mouse on consoles = no tooltips for PC users.
Unacceptable to me, and the reason I'm not buying til it's at least half off. Am I nitpicking? Maybe it's just the avalanche of console port hate cresting or something.

Hmmm, I havent have any problems with lag or the weapon switching..and this game has one of the best combat systems nowadays
About the stores. You can actually see the armor/damage that a weapon or amor gives/does. You can then compare the item with the currently one equiped just for the stats bonuses

Re: the demo - the demo was rushed out, based on old code, and not even put together by the developers. It was outsourced and i'm happy to say that NONE of the bugs i encountered in the demo are in the full version, that it's so smooth and pretty that i feel like i've got a new videocard.
About the lack of tooltips and such - The full game still does feel very console-focused, the combat is definitely designed to take advantage of a controller... i'm playing it with a controller myself and don't think i'd be having as much fun keyboard+mouse (note: i play skyrim and almost all PC games w/ keyboard+mouse).
Whether you might find the tooltips added in later seems highly questionable, but if you can make the --GASP-- blasphemous leap to playing with a controller i think you'll be hooked. It really is a fun, engaging game with a much higher excitement and discovery factor than any open world game i've played in a long time.

If having to click once or twice instead of just being able to mouse over something and instantly see everything is a completely 100% dealbreaker and to you the game is absolute garbage that's only worth buying at 75% off or more, then yes, you're nitpicking.
Both weapons will show up on your character, but only after equipping a new one, and the effect disappears after you switch weapons. The random freezing in combat only effects the demo, not the full game.
Fantastic game, your loss. Plays amazing with a 360 controller. Locked at 60fps maxed out and the game looks good.

Kind of why I'm not paying $60. Loved the demo and I can overlook the graphical bugs assuming release fixed them. But the tight FoV and console style UI aren't worth the hassle for me right now. My loss, I know, but not buying a controller to play a PC game.
I want really want to support 38 Studios and I really appreciate what they're trying to do, but the PC version looks a bit rushed to me.

It's one of the most polished, beautiful games I've played in a long time.
Also, PC games use controllers. Many games benefit from analog control. I've heard mouse/kb is fine too though. No graphic bugs at all, it's running silky smooth and looks amazing.
PC forum people like to bend over backwards to find faults but they just end up shooting themselves in the foot.

A bit nitpicky, but I admit... I would like a better targeting system that allows me to get more info from a distance.
