activating retail game on steam

hello, i bought the darkness 2 limited edition today and when i tried to activate the game through steam it wouldnt let me. i have seen plastered all over the internet that you can activate the game through steam though. i live in the US. any help? i like activating my games this way so yeah... lol thanks! :)

The is isnt one of those where you can mistake O for zeroes and stuff like that?.

there are no 0's or o's in the key either. i dont know why it wont work. i see everywhere that everyone else is activatin the key.

I was able to activate a retail key today, from a North American distributor, not sure about RoW. My key does have two zero's in it.
