Game crashing at specific point (spoilers)

So i'm at a certain point in the game (i'll say which in a minute, so as not to spoil it for people mousing over the thread for a preview), where no matter what i do, the game just freezes up then dumps me to desktop.


It's in the carnival, after you play the shooting game for jenny, when you suddenly get assaulted by a bunch of dudes. I work my way through the carnival until i get to the tunnel where the lights switch on, and it forces you to go through a side room in order to kill the generator.

Every time i get to this tunnel, whether its before i go in, or after i destroy the generator, i get a CTD. Has anyone had this issue? I've been through the faq and done the whole "allow as admin" rubbish, but it makes no difference.

Any ideas?

Still getting this problem, even after restarting the game. This is quite annoying.

did you try to verify the integrity of the cache through Steam? ive had to do that a couple of times before with games that would lag or something, and 9/10 times there's always a file missing it had to re-download.

Yeah i did, no files were re-downloaded either :(

next best thing I can suggest is maybe uninstall the game, and then try to play again, or if you dont wanna do that go to the official 2K forums for Darkness II and post there, the admin are normally quick to respond to problems about the game, with maybe a way to fix it or they may bring it to the dev's attention so they can fix it.

I have a similar problem like this in Skyrim (well did...i dont know if its fixed) to where I was doing a certain quest which takes me back to a dungeon ive already cleared before, and I get to where im about to enter the area for where I get the quest item, and while its loading the game completely closes out and returns me to the desktop >_> kinda dumb imo considering ive already cleared the dungeon before during another quest :/

hopefully you'll get this fixed.
