With side quests are we talking 1-20 hours or over 100 hours?
The Devs have said over 200 hours but im curious if anyone has finished and how many hours of quality gameplay you got.

thanks for your time!

Huum, hard to say really - depends how fast you go through it! I'm 12 hours in and haven't really done a lot of the main quest yet.

Depends on what kind of gamer you are.

Do you play like a time and motion study (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_and_motion) or do you look around etc?

Looking like 60 on a speed run with most quests.

100+ for rose sniffers and dialog listeners.

I clocked 36 hours to get to the end of the main story, while taking some time out to get to the head of the Scholia Arcana and do some dungeon crawling. It's not, really, all that long of a game if you just do the meat and potatoes main quest.

Under 30 for the main quest. Maybe 100 hundred if you do all the additional quest. 200 if you go afk for a week or are the developers and lying prior to release.

lol 36 hours isn't long for a game?

maybe if you done the actual quests you would think otherwise.

How long it will take you is largely up to how you play the game. I beat KoA:R in about 60 hours (205 quests completed which is the majority of them I believe). That being said, I play games quite quickly so you may get many more hours out of the game.

As mynameistoobig pointed out, the meat and potatoes of the game is it's side quests and if you have little interest in them, the game can be completed quite fast.

I'm allready 34 hrs in and i've uncovered a bit under half the map. I've done side/faction quests only, which seems like a neverending chain, tbh xD The main quest is left at meeting that guy whose name i can't remember in his house near the first warsworn keep. Mind, i'm the kind of gamer that explores everything and intend to do every quest, task and dungeon:P So for me, i'd estimate 100+ hrs of gaming before i'm done^^

Well, of those 36, I'd say at least 12 of that was side-questing. I didn't do anywhere near all of the sidequests, or even a quarter of the side quests. So, ballpark estimate, main quest will take you 24 hours to complete, no stops. I spent more time on the Dragon Age 2 main quest. Same with DA:O. Same with Skyrim. Same with all of my PS2 games that were made in the past decade.

So, no. It ISN'T long. Like I said, that length for JUST the main quest isn't long.

I'm about 24hrs in on my main character now and I'm not even out of the Fea area. Thats doing every quest, spending extra time crafting ect. I will 100% admit I'm taking longer than really needed to. I break every box I see. I kill every chicken I see (hell why wouldnt I its tracked in stats lmao). I used to rush through games. I could see me doing a full complete of quests in about 30hrs tops if I wanted to. Nothing wrong with "rushers" btw. I just decided its time to slow down and sniff the roses.

Im about 50 hours in and i have completed Dalentarth and 3/6th of Detyre. I don't break every box i see or explore every inch of the world however i do all the side quests and do talk to npcs and i don't dwell in crafting much or hang around town for longer than i need to be. Considering there are 3 more major sections of the map , Erathell, Klurikon , and alabastran which has about 6-8 areas for each of those sections. I think this game will defiantly be well over 200 hours. If you are asking because you don't know if you should purchase the game or not then i highly recommend you do. Don't listen to the haters. If your looking for a good story ,side quests, combat, and lore i highly recommend you buy this.

The game has a little bit of everything. 20-30 hours for the main quest is longer than most games these days, and there's plenty for the explorers, crafters, loot hunters, experience junkies, and completion-ists out there.

I'm at nearly 30 hours and level 25 and nowhere near finishing the main quest yet... I'm having fun doing most of the side quests I come across and I plan on doing all the faction questlines which are estimated to be 5+ hours each because they're fun and give you twists of fate (finished 2 so far).

I just finished the the game today clocked in with 45 hours @ level 38 with the blademaster destiny. This includes about 100 sidequests and all the faction quests with the exception of the Scholia Arcana. I still have plenty of achievements to go for. But that's for another time.. Maybe after an expansion comes.

To recount an argument made by Totalbiscuit, the length of RPGs cannot easily be compared to non-RPGs due to their different approaches to gameplay. FPSs, for example, are largely linear affairs these days and concentrate a lot of action into 4 or 5 hours (sometimes less). RPGs on the other hand contain a lot more filler content (e.g. running between dungeons, listening to dialogue trees, looting). That's not to say that it's not great that you can get so much bang for your buck ($1/hr vs. $4/hr), just that it's not always a direct comparison.

This.

I'm at 60 and I would guess I have another 20 or so to go, I'm going through stuff relatively quickly reading all the text instead of ignoring it or listening to the VO.

I could easily make that a lot more if I slowed down, but the later it gets at night the faster I try to burn through quests.

I love to read but even still I must say there's a bloody lot of reading to do. NPCs have a lot of background stuff to talk about.

I am at 52 hours and i am about halway through the game. i am doing every sidequest and exploring all, so 100hours is a correct estimate for me.
