OK so i play the game. i get to level 10. now i wanna buy some pointless C store gear. I click on C store. it says "get C points" i click, i get a purchase screen with "STEAM WALLET" as my only pay option. "OK fair enough" i think. so i go to my steam account load up the wallet. I then go back to buy my C points and all i get is "Waiting for response from steam wallet" after about 10 mins the "buy" button just resets and then nothing happens..

WTF is THIS crap? Now i have money in my steam wallet i have NO USE FOR.
I ONLY put it IN the steam wallet because the damn ingame store said that was my only pay option.
SO i do a little research, and "OH BTW", you can buy zen points then convert them (at a ♥♥♥♥ty .80 on the dollar rate) to C points.. OK

WHY the **** does the IN GAME store say "steam wallet" and WHY WONT my steam wallet money work?

and FINALLY how can i get the money BACK from my steam wallet since OBVIOUSLY this abortion of a marriage between cryptic and steam isnt working on the important levels???

in DESPERATION i installed and loaded "champions online" because i was told by a few sources i could log in and buy the cpoints there and they would work in STO. EXCEPT CO does the same crap!!! just resets the buy button after 10 mins or so without actually buying any points or even telling me the attempt failed!!

IN really getting sick of online games that want my damn money and then make it harder then the first week of Marine Corps bootcamp to GIVE them my damn money...

any advice (that works) on how to get my C points with my steam wallet or get my steam wallet money BACK into my bank will be greatly appreciated..

It was your only pay option because you didnt login to the STO site and setup a payment option.

Blame Steam, not STO.

as its in your Steam wallet you may be able to contact Support about it, but knowing Steam they may not refund it.

I thank you for that info, and the speedy response.
It's too bad the forum dwellers care more about each other then the companies who want are money do.

MY REAL problem is the fact "Steam Wallet" IS a choice, but ISNT a workable option! WTF is "steam wallet" still in the interface?
AND, shouldnt steam give a sh**?
Dont they care their subscribers are being mislead?
Shouldnt they have made sure all this works BEFORE offering this game through steam?

I will try to get my money back from steam, but as you said, i doubt they will care, since they didnt care enough to make sure it worked in the firstplace...

TBH i can FULLY understand why software piracy happens. it seems MOST game companies these days are about as honest as a side show weight guesser. as long as they have your money or can add your name to their rolls so they can sell the ad space, they dont care what the end user ACTUALLY recieves in the way of a service. The REAL crime is the software companies acting hurt and offended they are being pirated without any aknowledgemnt of the irony that "getting something for nothing " is the OPPOSITE side of the coin from where they dwell "getting paid and giving nothing"

I think this may be a fairly common problem, as many players in APB have the same issue when they choose Steam Wallet as a payment option. Using the wallet to make purchases outside of steam is a new feature and they probably don't have all the bugs worked out yet.

As for getting funds back from the steam wallet, I'm sad to say I also doubt you'll get your money back. But on the bright side, the money in there can be used to make future purchases on steam at least. The next time theres a sale you can just buy a game or 2 and not have to use a CC or paypal.

Note: I'm not making excuses for Valve or anything. In my opinion they should make sure everything is working perfectly when it comes to issues like this. As businesses and moneymaking platforms it should be in everyones best interest to make sure the majority of their customers have a pleasant experience.

I'll try not rubbing it in your face, that's not my intention.

I have bought cryptic points with the steam wallet and it went flawlessly. this means its not a problem with Steam or Cryptic.

it sounds to me like you only tried once. try it again. transaction failures are not rare.

if that doesnt work, make sure your account is for Perfect World and not cryptic. it sounds stupid but because cryptic points are simply perfect world points, it may be that the transaction is to perfect world and not cryptic.

and as the previous poster says, you can use the steam wallet to pay for games/DLC on steam, so just leave it there for sales.

I have been trying repettivly to buy c points with my steam wallet for 2 days now. i just get the same thing. 5 mins of "waiting for response from steam for your previous transaction" then finally "you cancelled your purchase"

I would say all in all ive tried on 20 seperate occasions to get the c points in the last couple days.
I filed a ticket with steam and im willing to let them have a chance to make it right. if not ill use my credit card company to do a reverse charge on steam and get it back that way.
i refuse to allow anyone to have my money wether it be through
intentionally misleading me or just indifferance at making sure the system works first. I dont pay people to dis respect me . guess im weird like that. LOL

I guess when I post a question the first words should be "im a veteran gamer and i know enough to do the basic things before posting complaints " LOL

anyway thanks for the replies

Don't do a reverse charge if you own any games on steam. Your account will be banned and every game you own on steam will be unplayable.

Question: Have you tried launching steam as admin then using the steam wallet to buy c-points? It just occured to me it may be an issue with privilages. There are a couple instances where I had to do that to fix transaction issues like this before.

and it works

maybe something in your settings is off?
cloud on?
community on?
make sure they are or steam wont work on sto

but dont do a charge back or you will get banned, spend it on tf2 hats or something

I just use the STO website to buy C-Points. <_<

http://www.startrekonline.com/crypticpointscards

It's the same thing, and you can use a CC or PayPal for it.

Hmm,

I am - suddenly - having the same error. I purchased 500 points a few days ago via the steam wallet without problems. Now since the massive update today I cannot.

Has anyone one else tried and if so are you getting the 'time out' error now?

Do not purchase that way. When the game starts and you go to login, you will see the option to view C Store, click that, it will then show on the left how many C points you got, click that to buy more, it will then take you to Cryptic or perfect World, I made a PW account mostly for this as it is easier, pay by card, cheque, mobile phone, game cards etc.

Just buy from perfect World Entertainment (PWE) if you create an account there you have the option to merge your Cryptic account to PWE, you but Zen, then convert it, very easy, simple and no issues and most of all, you get what your actually paying for.

I had this problem from the get-go; I couldn't purchase C-points by using the Steam Wallet option from within STO. I had turned off the Steam in-game overlay when I first installed STO. I turned it back on, restarted the game and was instantly able to purchase C-points. Anyone with this problem may want to double check that you have the in-game overlay enabled for STO.

In case anyone doesn't know how to enable the in-game overlay, right click on Star Trek Online in your Steam games library, go to Properties, then check the box that says something like "Enable Steam in-game overlay (Shift + Tab)".

This worked for me, hopefully it's the answer to everyone's problem with it.

This should be, if the findings in the official forums are any indication.
