I'm not even scared to play Amnesia: The Dark Descent at night...

This game is worthless, playing during the daytime, so your logic is flawed.

I'm starting episode 4, but i can't even dig into it atm cause it's so sunny outside. The immersion factor just isn't there in the day, unless you got some decent black-out curtains.

Is it really that scarry? I easly become scared to death by 'easy' things like Max Payne 1 nightmare, Uncharted 1 cave level and etc. I still don't understand how I managed to finish both Dead Spaces on normal without heart attack.

If you played through Dead Space, Alan Wake should be nothing to you. People claim that anything is scary and I really don't get it.

One or two moments in Amnesia made me slightly tense and then I find people calling each other out for stupid ♥♥♥♥ like "you to scared to play Alan Wake/Bioshock/Prey/etc at night aren't ya?" and it really does make me laugh.

Especially since most of the people tend to go to sleep at night and play during the day anyway -.-

To me, this is scarier than Dead Space but not as scary as Amnesia

I really don't find this game even remotely scary. It is easily tied with Silent Hill 2 for my favorite horror game, but that is entirely due to the story and characters. There is just no scare factor what-so-ever in this game. And this is coming from a guy who couldn't even make it an hour into Scratches, and had to watch a playthrough of it on youtube.

Nah, Dead Space (I'm assuming you're talking about the first one, anyways) has much better heart attack/adrenaline rush enticing moments. Cause in that game, the enemy can pretty much come out of nowhere. and you would be the least likely to ever expect if an ambush is coming or what lies in the next room. Even if your gaming skills are too awesome to comprehend, Dead Space would make you its b*tch.

Alan Wake has the great night time fog/supernatural pacing esque, and i love to thrive on and making myself involved in this type of environment(night forest galore is my favorite type of scenery), but since it's semi-open world, you're able to have that breathing space, that little leeway in order to escape and get through the next level. Even if you're scared out of your wits, you're still able to manage and redeem yourself because of how gracious the pathing is laid out in front of you. Dead Space is just a whole new ball game because of its isolation. IMO.

I kind of get spooked but never really scared like I did in Dead Space or RE. I actually praise Alan Wake for that. I play it more for the mystery side of things but like the hint of jumpyness they have added.

Besides the jump scares, I get a bit nervous when a big group of Taken show up. But then its dealt with.

I dunno I just never really found Dead Space scary. I mean it has its moments but you have such awesome firepower and the action was so frequent that the suspense never really built for me.

It's just the slow suspense of this game, creeping around the forests, somehow gets to me. At least in the early part - perhaps you get used to it? But at the moment I'm somehow very wrapped in the atmosphere and taking my time moving fearfully from one location to another.

Maybe I didn't get in the mood for dead space somehow and rushed through it a little bit from one encounter to the next. It was a great game though.

I only played for about an hour, but I didn't see anything even remotely scary in it. At least Dead Space and Doom 3 went for cheap scares. This game doesn't even do that. Enemies aren't oppressive like in Amnesia because it's very easy to fight back.

Agreed and Dark Descent is certainly scarier than Alan Wake. The ONLY game I was ever afraid to play by myself at night was that game on the PS2 where you killed ghost with a camara. I cant remember the name of that game but I do remember how scary it was, if your a fan of movies such as the grudge then you will understand.

That game made you feel completely and utterly helpess as your only weapon being a camara and your main character being a little girl, the atmosphere and sounds in that game were just over the top. Period.

Indeed. They're the scariest games I've ever played. The only reason I got through them was my niece and I played them together. The fourth even worse than the first three, but it only has a English subtitled mod. Never released outside of Japan.

I found the harder the game is and the less control or effectiveness you have in a game boosts the mood of the game and can coincide with the game making you tense and jumpy. I personally was ok with Alan Wake and Dead Space because I was effective and knew what I was doing, but I knew if I turned up the difficulty it would get pretty stressful.

But to this day that room in Mario 64 with the piano freaks me out just as much as being stuck in small hallways in SH 2 does

Oh and off topic they are remaking SH2 and 3 in HD lol
