View Full Version : Lost all my progress somehow

My game mysteriously reset itself, all doors locked and such. For a while it wasn't saving any new progress I did either, but that seems to have fixed itself. I was wondering if there's anyway to get it all back? Double S'ing the whole game isn't something I want to have to undertake again at the present moment, I just wanna beat my friends' scores :(

I think you can download a save file. I'll upload what I believe to be my save(all levels SS'd).

Save file goes in here.
Steam\steamapps\common\dustforce\user

Hopefully that works for you. Leaderboards are stored server side so it shouldn't affect your times.

Edit:
Here's the new download that includes the stats0 file as well

Thanks for posting that lilaznkilla, but I think you'll need to include user/stats0 as well.
Would you mind including that and re-uploading? Thanks.

Also note that if you have steam cloud enabled, the files will need to go in something like
Steam\userdata\7895198\65300\remote\user

Hope that helps.
And really sorry about this Zakton

I tried placing the files in both areas, and my game simply reset.. again. Do I have any other options?

Is steam cloud enabled? It could be overwriting the saves as you start the game. (Fallout NV had an issue like this.)

Since those 2 areas are the only place I can think of that contains the save file unless dust force keeps saves in the My Games folder or application data folder.

If you delete all the files in the
Steam\userdata\7895198\65300\remote\user
folder, and put the new files in the dustforce\user folder, it should load those instead of trying to get them from Steam Cloud. Then it will save the new ones to Steam Cloud.

Unless it's replacing the Steam Cloud files when you launch the game.. then you might need to disable steam cloud to get it to update.

hmmm still no luck. I do appreciate the help though.

I did just like you said, deleted all the files from both save locations, then put these new files (from the second link) in the Steam\steamapps\common\dustforce\user folder. Started the game up, still nothing.

Deleted all files again, stuck the DLed files in the same folder, launched without steam cloud support. No dice.

Edit: I didn't have Steam\userdata\7895198\65300\remote\user, instead I had Steam\userdata\65736191\65300\remote\user. But I doubt that makes a difference.

Sorry Zakton
Yeah I think the 7895198 is related to your user account.
This is strange, I can't get lilaznkilla's save to load either...

Will see what I can do.

Ok figured it out, here's how to load lilaznkilla's save.

-Run Steam
-Make sure Steam Cloud is enabled for Dustforce
-Replace the contents of Steam\userdata\xxxxxxxx\65300\remote\user with lilaznkilla's files (http://www.mediafire.com/?vkz5vt06655m75j).
-Exit Steam (Don't run Dustforce yet!!!!)
-Run Steam again
-Play Dustforce

Worked twice for me, let me know how it goes.

Thanks.

My brother replaced my save with the lilaznkilla's one without making a backup of it to see all the other levels and I wasn't even close to finish this game, now I can't start a new game with a fresh save. Is there a way to do it?

Krankdud made I fine little tool to reset the game back to a fresh save.
You could easily use this to make a new save.

Here is the link to the old thread:
Thread (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2623107)

Just follow the instructions in the Thread and Launch a new Dustforce save.

Hope I could help and all credits to Krankdud for the tool.

Seems like I lost my progress. I didn't play Dustforce in a while, and I launched it two days ago to see that all my levels were erased, names replaced by "???", no more times in leaderboards and no SS/keys anymore...

I hope you don't mind if I take your save... I played almost 50 hours on this game, I don't know how I lost my damn savegame, because I didn't have some SteamCloud error notification, nothing...
