Hello, I am wondering how the couriers work in Skyrim. I checked in the CK and it seems there are about 4 or 5 couriers that are apparently used once each. I assume they are being used by some script that randomizes which courier appears and his clothing.

Unfortunately, I am not very skilled in scripting and I wanted to create a quest that starts with the player being approached by a courier that gives him a letter - exactly like some of the original quests like the Dark Brotherhood or when you first use your Shout or when you reach level 20 and Silus sends you the Dawnstar museum invitation.

It doesn't have to be a randomized courier. The idea was that I use one of them and since he is already voiced, it's much easier then.

If anyone has any tips on this, let me know.

Thank you

i'd like to know this too.. I had the idea that the courier might hand you a book instead of a letter.

I've never had any luck asking for scripting help on here either. Sad, since for those new at scripting, the CK Wiki's scripting guides aren't very helpful.

Can't give you all the details since I haven't messed with them much, but couriers are deployed from a holding cell with a quest. The quest WICourier has the scripts and logic to pull the courier NPC out of his holding cell and teleport him to Tamriel. Once there his AI packages send him to forcegreet the player.

There's also the WICourier script which handles the loading and unloading of items off the courier. I'd start with poking around in those.

Thank you very much! If you stumble upon more info regarding this, I'd be happy to know.
