View Full Version : How does trading even work in this game?

I've seen tons of people asking for things like 20 defense potions for items, but we only have 8 inventory slots to trade with and a (rather insultingly) low vault inventory of another 8.

How do people trade this many items at one time to get an item? It doesn't make sense and it discourages me from trying to achieve wealth in this game.

You've already figured it out: You can't trade 20 of anything at one time. It would involve a trip to the vault and back, assuming that more vault space has been purchased.

Keep in mind, you're talking about some pretty high level characters shopping for that many defense potions with what I would imagine are rare items. Either that or it's a complete noob.

So basically I have to trust players not to rip me off when I'm trying to trade them, and I have to spend money (more money than individual games cost on steam) for still limited storage space just to barter?

That's...unappealing. :/

Well, generally when players say, "I want twenty def pots". They are not always meaning they actually want 20 def pots. You can also give them items that range in the value of 20 def pots, and make up the difference in actual def pots. For example Magic Nova Spell, can go for 14-16 def pots. In theory of course. Actual value may shift up or down from player to player. Also def pots are the "standard" by which all other pots are judged, but they are not the most valuable. That would belong to life pots, which as the market stands now 1 life pot is equal to 5.5-6 def pots. Meaning, 5 def pots and 2 speed pots to 6 def pots. As 1 def pot is equal to about 4 speed pots.

Hope that helps!

Edit: Here is a link to the official forums explaining the generally accepted values of items!

Yeah that helps a lot.

Also I just died with all my good stuff on me, so all I have now are two defense potions in my vault and I have to start all over. :(

When is it appropriate to drink a potion instead of trading it?

I would level up a character to 20, then if you have the opportunity, make a second character who is your "pot farmer" :P and they are the one who risks their life to max out your first character.

However, if this is not possible or is just not fun for you, then I would at least wait to get a character up to level 20 before even considering drinking a stat pot. But, from somewhat limited experience, getting better items may be more beneficial in the short run then getting permanent stat increases. If you have better items, for starters, you have a better chance of living longer. Yet, you also do MUCH more damage, which in turn, means you will have a higher chance of getting soulbound loot. Soulbound loot is dictated by, in part, how much damage you do and just how lucky your odds are. Soulbound loot in god lands typically will net you some stat pots.

I would not give money to other players for in game items trusted or not.

The devs should do something about these multi boxers and people that sell for money.

Yeah, do not purchase items from people with real money. I mean, at the end of the day it is your money, but I cannot think of an item that is worth it. There are items that are dang good and not the best, that can be found in the game either (1) easier or (2) with in-game trading.

Reputation building is also a part of this game. It's certainly not unheard of for purchases to be done in say 80 (or more) def straight. That would be 10 transfers of 8 def. If I have purchased item X for 80 def, then the trade order depends on how trusted the traders are. If they know each other well, then there are no concerns about at what point in the trade item X is transferred. If the buyer of X is well-established in the community, then item X is given in the first trade, and the rest of the def is handed over afterwards. And if it is a trusted and well established player then they basically always come through on their end. It essentailly never happens that a respected player, who in turn respects the game and respects their reputation in the game, goes ahead and "rips someone off".

Problems still occur, and that is basically always because someone handed item X over to a non-established player in the first trade, and then got ripped off because the subsoquent transfers did not happen. By the time you get to the point that you are doing the big trades, you should also have some overview of the community and who the trusted people are (there is a vouch thread in the trading section of the game's forums. Also the game's forums are a good place to get a sense of the community). Use this overview to guide your trading decisions and all should go smoothly. GL all, and enjoy the game.
