Guys and gals!!! I've been keeping my eye on this game for a while. Before i buy it however i wanted to ask you guys what would make the best experience? or at the very least a good experience? Mouse and Keyboard work good? or is this a game where you can only enjoy with a gamepad or joystick? Please let me know your thoughts :) I greatly appreciate it.

I only use keyboard and mouse and it works fine. I have moved some of the default hot keys, but I would still like a joystick for convenience. I also feel that in PVP the player with a joystick will have a slim edge over an otherwise equal opponent.

I use X52 (Stick and throttle) and it works great.

I know that many pilots fly with mouse/keyboard and like that a lot.

Some also use gamepads with no problems.

mouse/keyb -pilot here. The mouse-steering is well implemented in this game, no issues what so ever. I don't feel like I'm missing anything crucial without a joystic, though thats just a "feeling" as I haven't had a joystic since the 90's :P

Many thanks for commenting guys. I'll definately try out the mouse/kybd option first.

You can but I don't know how well that'd work. Granted I haven't tried it, but Evochron is a very detailed simulator. Most gamepads are meant to be held with both hands, and I'm currently have 26 hotkeys on my keyboard, as well as all three mouse buttons. You'd have to constantly be taking one hand off the controller to use the keyboard, even in combat. But you can definitely try it and see how well it works for you.
