Old and wasted

Hi all,
Today I launched the game like I do on a daily basis and discovered that all settings have returned to default. Ok, no big deal, but I want to know if this a commom problem or do I need to do something to prevent this?
I was an AA(2) fanatic, but due to discontinuation of support I've decided to move to AA3. Good game, but I think I have to get used to it to forget the old one...
