Well let's see what Ubisoft will do. I was a huge fan of the first one even that one lacked of diversity. The second one is my absolute favorite 'till now. The "playing-flow" is just so perfect, I played it for 16 hours without pausing!
Brotherhood was also quite nice, but Revelations has been some kinda disappointment. No real revelations, same old gameplay, strange story without any dramatic twists or anything like that, etc..

Let's hope they will take their time to make a REALLY good AC3! I'm excited and looking forward to it. :)

I think this'll be something to keep an eye on.

For one, we don't simply want another Assassin's creed with just a few new features and an altered outfit. Or at least I don't...but we still need it to connect with the story and of course, he must still be an assassin and not some brute.

In a way I'm looking forward to a whole new game, but still hoping it retains the spirit of the Assassin's creed series.

I'm disappointed that they're going from Europe to Amurrica, but I'd still buy it. Hoping they don't "modernize" it too much. It was already a big enough jump for me to go from II to Brotherhood, where those damned guards now have guns.

Hardly mattered, was still too damn easy on II but Revelations gave me some problems with guns haha.

I'm not looking too forward to this just because I don't know how it would be possible to make the cities we are used to in the other games.

One of my favourite parts of the game was the fact that the cities were quite expansive and the buildings had multiple tiers, which I just can't see happening during the American revolution.

There's other people out there and development teams. Elder Scrolls Skyrim apparently entered planning stages a month or 2 before Oblivion was released.

Dunno how Brotherhood sucked. If anything its the climax of the story as far as we know. Easily one of the greatest conspiracy stories told as well imo.

Revelations was ok though, I missed Italy

I'm just hoping the American Revolution won't be too modern for the feeling of the game. Going from the renaissance to an age where basically only firearms are used is what's getting at me.

Oh well, America, again.

Still, it looks awesome.

AC1 was in the middle East, the holy lands...and the Ezio series was in Italy and Turkey...America before the pilgrims got there would've been boring since almost no one was there and it was full of woods....lol

I'm implying about the trend of games set in America, not AC. Still, it's around the American Revolutionary War, which is an interesting setting.

Imagine free running around the trenches to assassinate a General with your Tomahawk.

Has anyone else thought about how the game will even be the classic Assassin's Creed gameplay we're all familiar with, if set in the American Revolution?

The uniqueness of the original game was free roaming, parkour enthused assassin. Running and jumping from one building to the next. That made sense, there were buildings and towns to run through. America, during the Revolution, didn't have any large settlements like they did during the Crusades and the Renaissance.

Personally, I can't see how this will be a game changer.

Interesting setting for the game, although I'll be ignoring it like I do with all Ubisoft titles lately.

Assassin's Creed - 2007
Assassin's Creed II - 2009
Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - 2010
Assassin's Creed revelations - 2011
Assassin's Creed III - 2012

Milk that cash cow baby!

(to be fair, they have decent single player campaigns unlike Call of Cashcow)

AC2 is somewhat different but I find all them to be almost alike. If you've played one you've played them all. Lots of climbing and some sword play thrown in.

It got even worse with 2 then Brotherhood then Revalations. 2 and Brotherhood were almost identical....which is why I made a choice not to play Revalations....I'm not going to be a sucker.

Brotherhood had the system to upgrade Montecarlo and Rome, you made money off that. It had the crossbow, the best weapon the series has had so far.
Multiplayer was interesting, it was like The Ship. I haven't finished Revelations but Brotherhood is my favorite AC so far.

I hope Ubisoft goes back to the kind of assassin mentality they had in II (not as extreme as I), instead of Revelations and (less so) Brotherhood where you basically just run around committing mass murder.

Don't get me wrong, that kind of gameplay opens up avenues for better combat mechanics and some beautifully brutal executions, but isn't the game about assassins? One of the things I liked about the first game was how much I felt like an Assassin - I had one target, and I focused hours on acquiring and taking out that one target. Of course, this got monotonous and boring but it was a decent idea.

tl;dr, I want to see more assassinations and less full-out combat. What's the point in all the free-running and climbing if you can just run through the streets and kill everyone in your way?

Oh, that and genuine story. The story aspect of the series kind of fell apart after II.
