how do i mine?

jsut started playing this game and cant figure out how to mine hekp please

You need a Mining Beam (if you haven't got one already, most stations tend to sell them), and it needs to be 'equipped', i.e. in the Hardpoint (Yellow) section of your inventory.

To mine you need to be close enough to a mine-able object (e.g. an Asteroid), usually within about 2-300 units (i can't quite remember).

Activate the Mining Beam with [default] B, or press Alt+B to toggle it on.

You should start hearing an indication sound every few seconds. You can also check your inventory to see items appearing in the cargo bay (middle section, mined materials will be purple).

If you're not getting anything, move a bit closer. If you're right up against it (within 50-100 units) the object may not be mine-able.
