View Full Version : No DLC?

I thought the Ultimate Box included all the DLC for the game but after I bought it and started it up I noticed this has nothing extra in. If this is the base game why is it called the Ultimate Box? I saw another post from someone saying they took down all the DLC, so if we can't buy any DLC what is the point in still having it in the game store?

Dead link. Also what is this for? Can I buy DLC from them directly?

Link works. I just sent an email and got an automated response.

Link didn't work for me so I just copied the address and manually sent an email. I got the automated email back but they just have links to Criterion and EA so I'm still not sure how this helps with obtaining DLC for the game.

"Ultimate Box" only included a few of the DLCs (it came out before most of the DLCs so it makes sense), Steam does not support the DLCs you can purchase for this game BUT if you copy your steam CD key, if you log into a Origin account and register that key to your account you can download the game from Origin instead of Steam and then should be able to purchase any DLC you want going through EAs Digital distributer rather then Steam, yeah it means having to use another client if you don't use Origin for anything else, but atleast its nice enough to where (most) all of EAs games you buy on Steam you can register the key at Origin and have access to the game on either DD so if steam is down you can boot it up on Origin but you can just as easily use Steam if Origin is down... nice being able to buy it once and have access to it on two different distributers.
EDIT: You may have to uninstall it from Steam to install it on Origin if you already have an Origin client, most games you do not have to, but when I just went to install it on Origin it knew the game was already installed on my computer and so wouldn't redownload, most the games that work on Origin with a key from a steam purchase do not make you uninstall the steam version but for some reason this one is, Ill re edit upon finding out if the DLC acts properly once I reinstall the game using EAs client.
EDIT 2: Aparently EA no longer sells the DLC for this game and rather then let people have it for free or sell it, they decided to not continue selling it and not let people have the content of the unsupported game for free. Not bothering deleting my last edit since the using Steam keys in Origin as a alternate way to access your games you bought on Steam if Steam is down is still good to leave up since that is one of the only good things EA allows (I was honestly surprised that Steam keys also worked in Origin since normally EA tries to hose you over as much as they can, but I have a good 6 or 7 games I bought on Steam that I have access to through Origin as well)

er no, the dlc store has been disabled for over a year (i'm an origin version)
& they never brought cops & robbers or big surf island to pc, pure abandonment
speaking of EA games, crysis2 map packs are offline/disabled for a couple months now too

Worst part? I never tried any of the DLCs. But, that is my fault as I took so long to buy the original version. Kick myself in the chin for it.
As for Crysis2 map packs, don't say that dude. I bought the game and I've played it twice. Unfortunately I've been lost between CS:S and Unreal III for the past couple of years.
I should get back into Crysis2 'cause the engine was super sweet. *mental note*

Thanks for the info guys.
I just think it says a lot about a company when they release a game along with future DLC and then just abandon the game and make it impossible to buy any of the DLC.
I had this for Xbox 360 with all the DLC but my Xbox broke and after the third one I will never buy another so when I saw this on Steam today for $5 I decided to buy it for PC(thought it would look nice on my new rig) and I again am left in disappointment.

3rd one? was it jasper or newer even? heavy usage or was it closed up in a cabinet? i would just stay on xbox if you already have it (at least for big surf island if you had that), even if you dont get yet another xbox for another year or 2
as for the abandoning, i really dont know if it's critereon or EA or both, cuz EA has a history of killing things (http://www.ea.com/1/service-updates) or holding patches hostage even if the developer wants to make one (shift 2 unleashed was denied further patches by EA)

All my Xbox's got the three red lights, the last one was repaired twice and just keeps dying. I have a big metal tv stand and it sits alone on the second shelf so it has about a foot and a half empty space all around it so I know ventilation wasn't an issue. The Xbox was just a garbage made system with a flawed design. I know the new smaller Xbox is made better and I haven't heard anything bad about them yet but I really don't want to buy a fourth Xbox now that it is in it's final year.
It has no DLC at all? Like no party pack, bikes and all those? Or are people talking about the DLC that came after the ultimate box? Everything aside from the island (that never came out anyway) is crap anyway, so I don't mind if it's the latter. And just to clarify, can you still play online?

It has the party pack and 2 bikes, but none of the other DLC is obtainable. I believe the party pack was free when it came out so I'm still not sure why it's called "Ultimate Box" when there is nothing ultimate about it aside from it being an ultimate waste of my $5.
I guess I can't hate on the game too much, it is still one of my favorite racing games and I will still have fun playing this but it bugs me that I will never have the DLC for the PC.
As far as multiplayer goes, I'm not sure if it still works because I haven't tried it yet but I will check for you and see if it works or perhaps someone will confirm it before I get the chance.

Criterion should give it to us for free!
I guess that 'maybe' there is a unlocker on gamerhintz!

You're not doing anything wrong, the developers took the DLC server down so now we can look at all the cool stuff we will never have. It's a great way to do business and make money while pleasing the fans.
"Hey I have a grand idea, lets make it impossible to buy DLC for our games but we will still leave it up so people can look at it!"

So i guess the DLC is in the game as the models are there, and it would just need to be unlocked?
Quite a shame that we can see the cars yet can't use them.

Welcome to doing business with EA. They've been a sworn enemy of mine for nearly a decade, though back then they were more in to exploiting their employees than their customers.
