View Full Version : Headset Hair Solution?

I was wondering how you deal with headset hair? Mainly directed towards guys.

Personally I was considering either doing one of the two options.
1. Get a short haircut or just go bald.
2. Use a behind-the-neck headset.

I like medium hair styles, but it can be a nuisance to maintain and even more so when using a headset. I really enjoy the quality from a headset and I'm not so sure that a behind-the-neck one would be just as good. A good example is the Logitech G330 which is my choice behind-the-neck headset if I side with the second choice.

Also, please link any gaming or hair related articles that talk about headset hair (if any). I've been searching, but it doesn't seem like there's a big focus on this topic.

Lastly, I'd like to know what headset you use or recommendations for either kind.

Grab a headset that has a super bendy Microphone (I have one at home, it's logitech, I can't remember the model right now) - that way you can have it up on your head if you want to, or you can have it go back around behind your neck, and you can just bend the microphone down to work.

As for fixing the hair, A quick shower will make it fluffy soft again (or if you're in a hurry, just burry your head under the sink faucet) and then you can use styling gel or wax to do it up when you need to go out.

Just don't ever take em off. People do the same with hats caps now.

I don't really care. If I've been gaming for a long time though, I just lean forward and swoosh it around all crazy-like. After that's done, I stand up and brush it and it looks fine.

My hair goes down to my ♥♥♥, and I have no problem with headsets.

Try tying your hair in a pony tail while you play or something.

It seems I have accidentally entered the girlgamers section of SPUF.

either of your options would work.
I just removed all the mirrors from my house.

I am actually wondering how the OP's hair gets in the way of his headset...

Does he have a Jewfro that gets stuck on the headset or what?

I have very short hair all the time so the problem doesn't present itself. I haven't had to use a comb in years.

Hair? I used to have that.

Now to have problems with my headset and hair, I would have to wear my headset in a place too uncomfortable to sit down.

I where my headphones so the band goes across my eyes, like that guy from Star Trek: TNG.

Ha, jokes on you! People on Second Life don't care what your hair looks like in real life!

What have I done with my life...

Thanks for the input fellas. Some interesting responses I do have to say.

I tend to 'reset' my hair with the quick rinse option for those bad hair day mornings, but I find that tricky when I'm not in the safety of my dungeon.

Surprisingly, putting on a tight fitting beanie and then putting the headset over it leaves no headset hair evidence after use. I do get a more flattened look, but not too shabby. I shall delve more into a hat combination solution.

As silly as it sounds I did try putting it on like a visor, but instead I rested it on my forehead. I can tell you it looks incredibly silly, but it leaves no band mark on top. The sides are still the same though.

I am tempted to just remove all mirrors, but society deems it a necessity to care about how one looks.

...Same.

I even just shave all of my hair off myself when it starts to get long. It's just a hassle for me.

Here's what I've noticed with my hair. If I shower, then put on the headset before it's completely dry (hour or two), headset hair will come and haunt me. If I wait for it to try, I can wear my headset for several hours without any effects.
