View Full Version : Cannot play Doom 3 in Offline Mode

I started Steam in Offline Mode. When I start Doom 3 Steam jumps to the store page and the game won't start.
When Steam is online the game starts normaly.
I deleted the ClientRegistry.blob and restarted Steam, also I reauthed. Nothing changed.
I cannot use all the time a internet connection (UMTS sucks here) so I have to use the Offline Mode.
Can somebody help me with this issue please?

Have you run Doom3 in the online mode at all? You have to do that at least once to be able to play in offline mode.

Yes, I did that, several times.

It should work, then. Not sure what else to try. :(

That's Steam DRM for you. Offline mode is very unreliable and works better with some games than others. The retail, non-Steam version of the game doesn't have this problem whatsoever.

I hope Valve fixes that one time.

I doubt it. Steam has gotten more and more restrictive over the years. My wife and I used to be able to log on to one account and play different games at the same time. Then Valve snapped their fingers and suddenly we had to buy another copy of all those games on a separate account so that we could play at the same time.
Valve is better than its competitors but there's a lot of room for improvement.
