Any tips on this level? Where there are two castles, one north and the other southwest.

Seems like you have to take out one of the castles by about day 25 or else you get overwhelmed when both sides attack you. The Paladin/Cleric castle seems a lot easier to take out, but I just can't get far enough before the other castle's heroes start pressuring my base too much.

My best strategy so far is 2 warriors guilds, 1 cleric guild, 1 ranger guild and all their heroes. Everything is built south of the palace to minimize the free exp for northern raiders. Use the money orb until I start attacking, then switch to the death rod. On day 2 I send heroes to kill the nearby bear den to level up fast, then immediately start attacking guard towers around the Warriors guild southwest. No heroes die before day 20, but it's not enough time to do much damage to their castle either. What do you do?

Rush early on...there are other strategies out there but an early rush with one of my lords(level 26 rogue) reallllllly helped me out. This was actually the toughest map for me until I changed my strategy. Try to wipe out as much as you can(warriors guild, market place, etc.) as it will still be hard to kill them off right away. Later on I was able to purchase one of my pally lords and then it was game over for them. Just slowly chip away at them.

Edit: I rushed the pallys/clerics, and built towers to the north. Make sure you get the trading post just south of your town(u might already know that). And then ya, use the rod/scepter from allowing the elves and rogues from leveling too much or from destroying your towers. :)

Getting Dwarven towers to defend the north was the boost I needed to beat this one! I ended up with 2 guard towers and a dwarven tower on the left of the palace and a guard tower and dwarven tower on the right of the palace, though I don't think I really needed anything on the right.

i wish the game had more of these heroes vs heroes maps.

What i did was defending the south with heroes while killing off elvel raids with the AE damage spell.
It is important to research rogue stun and warrior slow so you can KILL enemies so that they dont level up too much.
Once that is done i made an exception to my usual agmeplay and relied on dwarven towers to defend the north. The elves die really easly to those.
Also, dwarves are almost magic immune and have anti-building attacks, so they are really good at killing off the bases.
Once the North is save, i let my parties (important) attack the south and used the scepter to kill off enemy workers.
marketplace and healer building are a good target of you are not sure of you can finish the job.

i am not sure, but i think i also attacked the elves marketplace early, i think some building of them is not defended well.

BTW, the warriors guilds dont do anything, i think earlier versions of this map had warriors too, but i guess the devs themselves found that too impossible.

This map is quite a challange.

Rushing wins almost every map in the game, really. Either get a Lord or slap down a Rogues' Guild really fast and you can kill a lot of the harder lairs before they put out any monsters.
