Prototype crashes when I'm not connected?

I've recently been encountering a problem that didn't used to happen. When I'm not connected to the Internet, Prototype refuses to work. I have Steam in offline mode; I'll set it to this before I leave an area with a connection. But whenever I try to play Prototype offline, it crashes upon loading. I never have this problem when I'm connected, so I can safely say it's isolated to this.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I beat the game with Steam in Offline Mode while I was in Iraq, so I think it's something on your end. I've never heard of this game requiring the internet to function.

Yeah... I know it used to work while I was offline, and it randomly stopped doing so.
