Please either remove this or add a warning that this is going to be forcibly installed with games downloaded from Steam. I don't want extra bloatware added to my computer, especially when it's GFWL.
Such a stupid program, why would Steam even allow them to put this on?

GFWL is required since you must connect to LIVE to play on the AoEO servers.

I don't even care anymore, after getting 5 different errors trying to launch it, and finally getting to play, I realised it's a silly spinoff with no proper AOE rts.
Waste of my time.

The day Valve games ditch steamworks is the day Microsoft ditchs LIVE.
Deal with it.

I had a bunch of login issues as well. I had to reset my password to the same one I was already using and finally got it to work in-game. I had to exit the game to get a CD key (which I don't understand for a game that's free) and when I go to login to the marketplace it tells me my username or password is wrong.
After 10 minutes of trying, I said screw it and uninstalled everything. Another crappy GFWL experience.

The "bloatware" you're talking about sits idle when not in use, as a whopping 2 gargantuan services, commanding almost a full 1% (rounding up) of even a 21st century CPU, along with a teeth-rattling 3.5 MB of memory. Lord only knows how much of your hard drive it's eating up.

Yesterday I tried to play this game and required an GFWL update, okay nothing special... but boy was I wrong. A whole bloody day of troubleshooting getting this thing to work....
I can't update GFWL
I can't uninstall it
I can't play any GFWL games anymore
I can't connect to the GFWL service
It gives my some useless error with no information whatsoever when I try to install the update.
This makes me puke. I can't play games I bought anymore, how messed up is that? :o
Bottomline: GFWL is a piece of dried up turd.:mad:

Bunch of my friends had the same experience. This is the first F2P game I know that actually does not want you to try it

Do you have xfire? Somehow it makes GFWL unable to connect, try to shut xfire completely down, then start the game.

I play with Xfire and Steam and had no issues connecting yesterday.

They fixed that issue with the last 2 Xfire updates. It shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Oh, didn't know that. Was it in the patch notes?

Their forums are still down for migration, but since I'm a membe rof the beta testing team I can post the notes from there.
Hey guys,
Many of you have been filing reports that you cannot play online with any of your 'Games for Windows - LIVE' games while Xfire is running.
We haven't been ignoring this problem. In fact, we have been talking about it in every dev meeting since you started reporting it (yes, it's been months), but haven't be able to reproduce it ourselves.
However, we might have a fix for that now. We're going to be doing a game support update today which includes this fix if we can find a few people to test it first.
The patch was released later that week that fixed the problem.

Ditto. GFWL is awful. Steam works. GFWL has been a headache from day one.

Oh it still uses GFWL on Steam? Thanks OP. Guess I'm going to redownload the game through Steam now. Never had one single issue in my life with GFWL and I get achievements for my 360 account.

I can't play to the game. Gfwl ask me to log with my profil. I'm doing it, but Gfwl can't connect with the profil. I make a another, same thing : can't connect !
And again and again.
Any workaround to avoid G4wl ?
