Am I the only person who feels relieved when a new indie bundle comes out with no games in that I'd heard of or wanted? If they had a game in that I wanted, then I'd feel compelled to buy it because it's probably an awesome bargain! I'm trying to wean myself off indie bundles somewhat.

I don't care what anyone says about that game, or if it's consolized or not, it's one hella cool trip. :D

I used to find dead bird carcasses all over the yard and couldn't figure out why. My dog wasn't quick enough to catch a bird flying past nor could she climb a tree. However one morning I saw the cat across the street catch a bird and a moment later I saw my dog cross the street followed by the cat jarate bolting over the fence and my dog returning triumphantly with the bird.

Great story! Smart dog!

I'm about to order a new video card. I've been using my EVGA GTX 285 for nearly 4 years now, and it's still going strong, but it's time to move on.

This (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130683) is what I'm getting. I'm surprised though that the price hasn't dropped below $200 by now.

Was waiting for this one, (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121445) when the price dropped it went out of stock.

I'm more of a Martini man, I honestly can't stand a lot of beer. I'll have a Guiness on St Paddy's day but aside from that, it all just tastes so... so... I dunno. Maybe I'm still too young to appreciate it.

That's sort of true. This is the universal age chart:

18-22: cheap beer
22-33: good beer
33-35: wine
35-37: top shelf liquor
37-retirement: same liquor but bottom shelf
retirement - death: what ever you can afford that makes you forget the last 50 years

We should probably stop breaking the rules Bluz. That one rule is so hard to keep in my mind, such a natural conversation. Last thing I need is a time-out today.

As for Crysis: I am almost capable of buying video games again. You should hop on that, less than $10? Why not! Had a tight budget there for a while, and all the steam sales flowing by made me scream in agony, but it'll soon be good again. Life will have meaning!

supernaut
05-04-2012, 08:14 AM
Bluz, do you need Crysis 2 right now? Or are you considering it because it's on the cheap side (and because of the demo, as you said), a window of opportunity that is going to close? I refrain from deals until the deal is so ♥♥♥♥ing ridiculously cheap that there's little chance of regretting the purchase. That price range is different for different people, I generally go for games that interest me when they drop below 3 euros. That's a price point I feel comfortable with when I feel the urge to "collect" games, instead of playing them. I don't actually need the game, it's just in my range of interest and I wouldn't mind playing it.

What is a game that you need to have and then compare it with Crysis 2?

For example. Diablo III, I've waited it for over a decade. It's a done deal, I don't need to think about buying it, I will buy it. And then I have something like Trine that I have interest in, but didn't get until it was 1.6 euros, which is practically nothing for a game.

My girlfriend told me about this site the other day... whats it called again... tophatter.com

It's like a live auction site, where people sell jewelry and alt art and clothing and a bunch of stuff. Kind of like Ebay except the auction times are a short window where you need to log in to bid, so sometimes you can get a $20 necklace for like $8...

She showed me the 2 pieces she bought yesterday, and she has a few more pieces she wants.

I warned her that this was her Steam. Couple years ago I was like "OH MY GOD SUCH GREAT DEALS" that I spent around $200 in a month as I blazed through indie games, not noticing it all adding up. I fear she will soon do the same thing. She kind of shrugs off my advice. "I'm good with money" she says. I hope she's right.

It might just be me, but HTML layout has to be one of the most unneedlessly difficult things to do... I feel like the nature of it is there just to spite me.

I'm trying to do a simple grid like layout without using tables, since tables are supposed to be kept for displaying tabular data.

I've managed to get working columns to evenly seperate the labels on the left from the two inputs we need on the right.
The thing that I can't seem to master is to get things to line up horizontally, without assigning an absolute position on the page (which is very nasty to maintain if any changes want to be made).

So I'm all, lets just seperate the labels on the left with breaks and we'll put the same amount of breaks on the right for the HTML input tags... Should line up, right? Nope; text boxes are slightly bigger, so they don't all line up.

Short of throwing them in their own containers with a specified size, I'm drawing a blank.

Now when the Caliph heard these couplets, he exclaimed, "By Allah, good! By Allah, excellent! Verily the Lord hath been copious to thee, O Naomi! How clever is thy tongue and how dear is thy speech!" And they ceased not their mirth and good cheer till midnight, when the Caliph's sister said to him, "Give ear, O Commander of the Faithful to a tale I have read in books of a certain man of rank." "And what is this tale?" quoth he. Quoth she "Know, O Prince of the Faithful that there lived once in the city of Cufa a youth called Ni'amah, son of Al-Rabi'a, and he had a slave-girl whom he loved and who loved him. They had been reared in one bed; but when they grew up and mutual-love get hold of them, Fortune smote them with her calamities and Time, the tyrant, brought upon them his adversity and decreed separation unto them. Thereupon designing and slanderous folk enticed her by sleight forth of his house and, stealing her away from his home, sold her to one of the Kings for ten thousand dinars. Now the girl loved her lord even as he loved her, so he left kith and kin and house and home and the gifts of fortune, and set out to search for her and when she was found he devised means to gain access to her".
--And Shahrazad perceived the dawn of day and ceased to say her permitted say.

Diablo 3 Predicted to sell 3.5million units (http://www.gamesradar.com/diablo-3-sell-35-million-2012-says-analyst/) for the entirety of 2012. I think it's an incredibly small and stupid number.

I was wondering about this myself just this morning, so I checked how well Starcraft II did in a similar time span and it sold nearly 4.5 million in roughly 5 months, with the first month accounting for 3 million. No idea how much it has sold since. Diablo III will do 3.5 in 7 and a half months easily, I'd say the analysts are going with a safe estimate, based on how Starcraft II performed in its launch year. Starcraft II was arguably the more anticipated sequel, since Diablo fans got their second game over 10 years ago. That said, Diablo has always been more accessible. Although, the games being exclusive to PC/Mac, I wouldn't say Diablo III would do 8 million (for example) in that time frame, without breaking a sweat, as anticipated or accessible as it is. And I say this as a massive fan of Diablo II. Analysts have more data and experience to go by than we as fans, but I agree that 3.5 is too much on the safe side.

Before I started browsing Rotten Tomatoes I did not know that this little documentary existed and it has been out since April 20.

I made a thread about it a week before that date, to let people know of the Facebook live stream on the same day as the theatrical premier. I agree though, lot of good stuff gets buried under more significant marketing budgets.

Unfortunately I couldn't see it myself, it being region restricted for me, but I plan on watching it eventually. Thankfully we have a nice documentary festival here.

JRPG's are the turned based random encounter RPG's you see quite often from Japan. Although it's slightly evolved. Western RPG's are typically ones like Skyrim, NWN, Baldurs Gate..

Extra Credits did a few episodes summarising the difference between the two. (http://penny-arcade.com/patv/episode/western-japanese-rpgs-part-1)

The most basic difference is that WRPGS focus on the player character and progression, whereas JRPGS are more about other characters and story. Yes, it is possible to make a JRPG in the west and a WRPG in the east, as both are genres in their own right, no longer bound by region.

I know why I broke the leg off the HSF. It's because GP23's comment upset me so much that I took my frustration out on the leg that bent the wrong way. Looking at the other HSF's out there, the one that I'm leaning towards is TOO BLOODY BIG! It's going to interfere with the RAM slots so pairing my current RAM with two more sticks will NOT BE POSSIBLE!!!:mad::mad: I'll have to settle for a cooler that may be too tall for my case. It will require me to disassemble my PC which means once I start plugging my hard drives back in they may change letter which means I'll have to unfutz GFWL  and 'reinstall' my Steam games which probably means I should deauth all my games that use SecuROM. All this trouble and strife caused over one stupid broken plastic leg because somebody couldn't keep her nasty comments to herself. Yeah I mad.

Just make sure you plug the right drive back into the exact same SATA port it was in. Make notes or take a picture before unplugging the drives.

Which model HSF did you break, and which ones are you considering?

I somehow got tricked into watching this video of Japanese girls doing bizarre things with eating utensils (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKZmVWjgrCk). (NSFW)

All I could think of was whether Europhoria would be impressed :D

It was the stock HSF for the i5-750. Stupid plastic legs. Going for the Coolmaster Hyper 212 Evo. I've had something against Coolmaster for ages. Don't remember why but they probably released a few ♥♥♥♥ HSF's back in the early 2000's that gave it a bad name in my mind. Not as bad as the Volcano range from Thermaltake. Wanted the Noctua NH-U9B-SE2 but it's too wide, like bluz74's face. I won't be able to install an additional two sticks of RAM.

I fixed it! 97.33% success rate.

All I had to do is ignore the general region of code that was causing the problem and copypasta and modify the stuff that was working. Screw good programming practices such reducing code duplication, hack at it until success.

Ok so lets order my dominos.

There's 5 of us so we'll go with 4 large pizzas, a meteor, a firenze and two create your owns each with stuffed crust and 3 toppings. No drinks, sides or desserts. Anyway the total comes to.... £69.41

I think I'm going to have to remove some stuff :(

Edit: Reduce the size of one pizza and use a voucher and it's now £44.96 which is still obscene.

It's Dominos. The prices have been absurd for ages.

£9.99 for a small pizza is ridiculous. The only time it's good is when they've got deals on.
