Having never played Crusader Kings, this game looks interesting. Amazon is having a sale and Crusader Kings II can be had for $17.99 (http://www.amazon.com/Game-Downloads/b/?_encoding=UTF8&node=979455011&tag=chnaar-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957). Since it can be registered on Steam, I figure this sale would be a good time to buy it.
Now, before you answer if it's worth it. I also bought Stronghold 3, AoEO and a few other games. But I figure I should get these while they are on sale.
So I have a backlog of 6 games, and I am playing three of those ATM. So a backlog of 3 games.
Is Crusader Kings 2 worth it at this time, or should I wait for a better sale?
Thanks.
EDIT: It's over people. The current Amazon deal is 75% off Battlefield games.

Yeah man, if you like strat games this is def worth the price of admission. It isn't very much like S3 or AoE at all though, so don't go in expecting a game like them.
I bought full price and got my monies worth many times over. Paradox makes solid titles.

I went into it hoping this game would be like Civilization, after playing the demo I found that it wasn't and had no idea how to play it. For some unknown reason (probably people speaking about a Game of Thrones Mod) I decided to buy it and now I CANNOT put this game down. It's fantastic.
It's a steal for $17.99, I might buy an extra copy and hold a tournament to see who obtains it, lol.

Great. I am a moron. I didn't even see that there was a demo (http://www.fileplanet.com/224596/220000/fileinfo/Crusader-Kings-II-Demo). Trying it out right now.
Thanks for the info guys!

tbh, the demo didn't do the game justice for me and the ability to mod truly made the game amazing. Also, took me a bit to adapt and appreciate this game.
I'm curious, can you purchase a downloadable product from Amazon and gift it to someone? If true, then how?

Thanks for the info. Yeah the game is a bit overwhelming and no save makes it a crappy demo. I will have to put aside a few hours to figure it out.
What I do is simply get the game on Amazon and give the key as a gift to whoever. Most games I buy there use Steam as copy protection anyway.
My friend can then use the key to get the game and download it from Steam. Just be sure not to forget that you can no longer use this key. Not that Steam will let you, it will keep saying your key is invalid (an not that it is in use, which causes some confusion).

Check out this guy's video-tutorials (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJhoyHE26lg). It doesn't cover absolutely everything, but you should get a pretty good impression of how to play this game effectively.

As a rule, never buy a game at full price since every single game gets reduced to 75% -if only for a short while- within the first 12 months after the release.

CK2 is not like AoE or Stronghold. It's more like the Sims or breeding a dog. The grand strategy is about managing your family and your dynasty. You Manage your succession, increase your wealth and estate, make sure you still have a crown on yours and your future sons head, breeding a worthy son to take over your dynasty, etc.
I'd suggest waiting a bit longer when more DLC has been released before buying it.

Eh, I bought it. A brand new game for less than $20 isn't bad.
I watched a few videos on YouTube and loved what I saw, so I got it. Now to just find some time to play the thing.

Let me just say this, if you're a fan of medieval era, which I am and have played some of paradox's other titles such as HOI, then yes. I came here couple days ago to read about it. Found out it was on sale at amazon, and bought it. I have not put it down. I'm playing as the Duchy of Brittany and am absolutely addicted, killing both French and English!

Lol. Whenever I try to do something like that, I get hopelessly slaughtered. But no big deal, I just got done with Stronghold 3 and will really delve into CKII.
