I would love to install Velvet Assassin on my rig, but I know that I've got a newer version of PhysX installed on my system than the version that comes with the game.

Anybody install this game with a newer version on their system and have everything work out OK? No corruption of the PhysX installation and the game still works? I think I presently have version 9.10.0153.

Well, I went ahead an installed the game. So far, nothing seems broken and PysX didn't try and overwrite the newer version, for anyone else that wants to know. The game is working fine so far on my Windows 7 64 bit rig.:)

While the game uses an older 9.09.xxx version of PhysX, it does not use the GPU to render physics. Just like BulletStorm, this game is CPU only.

In recent versions of PhysX Nvidia changed architecture, removed a lot of old engine versions, moved files from Ageia to Nvidia folder, so this causes issues in many old Physx powered games (mostly 2005-2009 years).

This site http://physxinfo.com/wiki/PhysX_System_Software explains the difference between new and old architecture.

Latest version that had old engines included was this http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx-9.12.0613-driver.html
its still considered latest official, newer versions comes with beta drivers and it seems like old engines was removed to reduce driver size

Made a guide how to fix this issue without downgrading your physX
