I've been playing this for a few hours, and its a great game.
However, I'm a little hazy on the online elements of this. I know you can play pvp, trade with other players but is there anything more to this online wise?

You can also co-op with one other player on your quests, partner up for wave based defense for Defense of Crete booster, or play with up to 3 others in a customizable Skirmish mode against the AI which entails its own set of rewards. Some people like to chase game achievements for their Gamertag.
Other than that, online is used for all patch updates and future DLC, as well as doubling as a form of DRM to deter piracy.

The entire game is basically online. Everything is run and stored via the LIVE service. Once you login and select your civilization, you are always online. Everything you do from quests, trade, chat, PvP, skirmish, etc, are all online.

No Local save file, so you can play from any PC
Very big on playing with friends and using tht to expand your kingdom
No saving mid-mission
Requires internet to play regardless
Spammers and trolls on chat
This is purely speaking of the online aspect, I think this is a great game. But im so mixed about it based on it's predecessors.
