Feed Me riddle help

How do you solve the riddle that says feed me? I assume it means the statue head right next to it, but I can't seem to feed it. I tried throwing food at it and next to it but nothing is working. Anyone find a solution to this yet?

If you don't know which one I'm talking about, it is the riddle where you meet slimes in the next room.

You need to defeat all those green slimes. There's a gem at the end.

I thought the slime room would link up with the rest of the floor, so I left it alone. Looks like I need to back track there and get that gem.

Nah the slime room is separate.
