Stuck on door on first floor (eye gem puzzle)

I'm stuck in the room where you have to find a gem to put in the eye of the statue to advance. I cleared out a couple of slugs and found the false rock, but then the pressure pad closes the door before I can get through.

Put something (preferably a rock) on the pressure plate to keep it depressed.
