So as it says above I can't install GFWL but that wouldn't be a problem except all the troubleshooting I come across says to do that to aquire a cd key. As with others there is no cd key when I start the game. I was told to start a new thread so here it is. Also, the error I get when I try to install will be forthcoming.

Games for Windows - LIVE is required to play Flight, so the root of your issue is your inability to get Games for Windows - LIVE installed. Try going to this site and downloading Tinker (free game) http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Tinker/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d804584109eb it will try to install games for windows live for you

I should have mentioned that the overlay comes up in game but I don't think that's what you're talking about?

In your start menu type in "view all problem reports" is there an error from Games for Windows - LIVE or Flight, or I guess Tinker? if so please get me the contents of that error.

I don't see why I have to go through all this trouble. ALL I NEED IS A CD KEY!!:o! I don't need the GFWL client intalled because this is the only game I want, and it's on Steam.
But apart from that, I run Win 7 and nothing changes when I run the installer as admin.

Even if I emailed you a CD key, you would need to be able to enter it in the Games for Windows- LIVE interface. Can you try downloading the game through the following link (it's not the steam versaion) I want to see if it is an issue with your computer interacting with the package hosted on Steam, or if there is something else going on:

Ok, this looks weird, could you give me a DXdiag (start -> dxdiag -> Save all information) of your machine? the Problem Signature 09: System.BadImageFormatException
error usually only pops if you have win 7 64 installed on a 32 bit machine, or are installing a 64 bit program on a 32 bit machine.

This is way too complicated. *Sigh* How do I tell if I have the wrong OS installed?
Here is the DxDiag:

Thanks a ton, I have saved the file and will take a look at it!
While I doubt this will fix it (still looking into root cause) your video driver is several versions out of date. http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx#1 will get you the newest one.
*goes back to trying to figure out issue*
