View Full Version : DLC mappacks & symmetrical maps

I'm an avid fan of sniper games, I can play them for days straight if I could, but if there is one thing I hate it's purchasable map-packs splitting up communities - especially in this case since these type of games don't always have the biggest community.
Will this game get them?
Also, will there be maps with completely symmetrical layouts and an uncrossable middle (think the good ol' CoD1 sniping servers). The lack of these kind of maps in Sniper: Ghost Warrior completely blew the experience for me as there is nothing worse than getting knifed in the back - whereas symmetrical maps are much, much more tense.

So... while waiting for the PR guy to respond, am I the only one who would like symmetrical maps with no crossable middle?
Note that I'm not saying all maps have to be, I would just like a few symmetrical maps on top of a the asymmetrical maps. Or maybe I'm just ignorant and this has already been stated once.

Admittedly, I'd like to see on or two for pure sniper vs. sniper battles. Probably a city area with a river in the center, the bridge having been destroyed.
That said, it is unlikely that they'll be added. With a map that you desire, there'll be no reason to check your flanks meaning you'll constantly be focused on the area where the enemy is, and when out of scope, you'll detect movements quite easily meaning you'll always have an unfair advantage.
I do hope that user made maps can be added, because it would be nice to see.

Map packs will be a big part of SEV2 going forward, however current thinking is to provide this service for the PC version as free content, so downloads would be compulsory through Steam prior to running a new updated version. So, no separation of the community.

Good choice, probably brought on by the fact that PC only dlc sells about as well as seven day dead pigeon, and there is clearly no need for versus dlc on the consoles.
At least now I won't be ostracizing myself from the community when I'm the only one that *does* buy the dlc!

Bumping the thread to say:
Don't change your mind on this Rebellion. It's the best decision you can do.
Good support/Free new stuff = Community happy = will support you with other projects
Bad support/milking with DLC's/splitting community = Community unhappy = will avoid other projects coming from you (<<< and you don't want this, right?)
Keep it up Rebellion ;)

I'd like at least one map like you've said. Provided it's done right, maybe a nighttime map that is very dark; so it takes a keen eye to spot an enemy player.

Nighttime maps are always cool :D
A (few) snowy map(s) would be awesome too (or is there one already?)

Meh, never been a fan of symetrical maps.
