View Full Version : Demo only DX9?

The demo size was once something like 2,1 GB, now it's 1,5GB.

I played it and I think it only supports DX9, as opposed to the screenshots wich clearly show DX10/11 capability.

So, I assume the full version still supports DX11? And why was the demo size changed?

Size is not always rightly ladled on steam, Downloads can most commonly be 2/3 the size its ladled as with compression on the files being downloaded and such.

Point is, it still doesn't look as good as exhibited in those screenshots, not even close. Maybe they cut some content out of the demo in the last minute?

Demo's don't generally show off the full graphics power. So I bet it will be fine once the game releases.

Are you sure this game is/was DX 11 capable? where are those screenshots that shows the game running on DX11?
screenshots are hardly any proof of the game running at DX11 since screenshots can be doctored, they could be PR Bullshots etc.

Unless the developers have stated that the game was/is DX11 we can assume this game has been always DX9. I'd love it to be DX11 myself, but I don't think that's the case.

I am afraid that is not any confirmation of this engine doing any fancy DX11 or doing DX11 at all

Yes they do. In fact, I can't recall a single demo that had worse graphics than the main game. The culprit here is the screenshots, which were obviously manipulated

Crysis 2 demo didn't have full Graphics in the demo and allot more didn't have everything in the demo.

people should never trust screenshots, let alone PR Bullshots, they are always rendered with several layers of anti-aliasing, depth of field etc all this at ultra high resolutions and then down-sampled so they look even more awesome.

So they guy who asked should have never assumed that the game was DX11 just by looking at a screenshot, that sort of confirmation will have to be something coming straight from the horse's mouth, in this the developers.

Crysis 2 demo didn't have full Graphics in the demo and allot more didn't have everything in the demo.

Crytek guys are known for not putting the high graphics option in their demos since the Farcry 1 days. And they have always let the people know in advance about.
I don't think that's the case with this demo, what you see is what you get.

Sorry, but this is bull. It clearly says that WIn XP is not supported and that you need at least a DX10 card. Look at the screenshots, and at the shadows specifically. I didn't have those in the demo.

As long as forced AA works, if what we see is what we get, going to need to force AA in the nvidia panel to eliminate the jaggies.

It is incredibly rare for a demo not to look as good as the full game. If they do, it's typically just texture resolution so the file size isn't as big. If you think it's going to be very much different in any aspect from the full game when it's only a week from launch, you are beyond naive.

I think you need to go into advanced options rack up all the settings, my file is 1.5GB and has dx11 on msi afterburner showing.

Okay, thread can be closed.

I downloaded the demo again (this time from Steam, not the "alternative" link), and all of a sudden there are more options in the advanced graphics menu.

Hmm...

Fun game btw.

It does i dont see it in my afterburner? No sale if Dx11 is not added and yes the game world needs to open up. I will just wait and see where this game goes, but they have good ideas just needs some more polish.
