Problems with Sniper Elite V2

(First of all, I might have missed some thread but I looked through the last 2 pages and couldn't find anything regarding this issue)

Hi,
I'm currently experiencing some problems when starting up SEV2. The download went all fine, and after the "Servers are busy/occupied" issue had been fixed, I could download SEV2 without problems.
The only problem I have right now is that I can't start it. Nothing. If I click on it, absolutely nothing happens, no new task in the Taskmanager shows up or anything.

Has anyone else had this problem? I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.

Yeah, I'm having the same problem. I tried running as admin from the exe file and it's still crashing on the intro "Rebellion" screen. I checked dxdiag and I'm definitely running Direct X 11.

Windows 7 Enterprise N x64.

i had that issue restarted my pc and it worked fine

A reboot of steam usually fixes, if not computer, if not tell us.

Check if what DX your running, the game doesn't support dx9 so if you try to run it on a dx9 card, I would wager your problem is the result.

I'm using the NVidia GTX 470, which should definitely support DirectX11. Steam restart & Computer restart didn't fix it.

Go to where the demo is installed on steam, and then go to bin. There you will find the exe file, now make it run in xp compatible mode. That worked for me

My problem was similar, I would click play via steam the game client looked like it was about to load up but cut's out and the shortcut appears on my taskbar similar to how the game start's but it doesn't and I couldn't click the shortcut.
I did try all the normal procedures (retarting steam/pc) and nothing. Then I tried billz3ng tip and changed the game's compatibility to run "windows XP(service pack3)" and it worked straight away, thanks billz.
I've had this game on my steam wishlist for some time now.I really hope the dev team doesn't shy away from these early problems and start's to give us some answers and work with the players instead of hiding away letting the forum admins to take the grief.
Let's not make this another Red Orchestra 2 in less than a year(released 2011 September) that game went from 10-20k players online and 8k+ recommendation on steam to less than 900 active players on their servers. That was all down to a buggy poorly designed game from the start and the dev team not fixing it quick enough, even today they are still trying(god bless em).
Looking fwd to being able to try the demo now!

You're lucky then, it still doesn't work for me. The game runs as admin and in Windows XP SP 3 compability mode but it doesn't show up anywhere.

I don't know if it might give you a clue about what's happening in your case, but for the record here it goes how it worked for me, I have a mobile nvidia geforce gt 540M: mine always crashed during the "Rebellion" intro, I tried everything in this topic but nothing worked, at the end I opened the nvidia control panel and there I specified I wanted my laptop to use the Nvidia gpu instead of the automatic selection available through the nvidia "Optimus Technology", and that worked. Otherwise, I don't know, you might want to verify the integrity of the game cache or else. Have luck with your troubleshooting.

Ive redownloaded this game 4 times and verified game cache as well. It just stopped working as soon as it hits the rebellion screen. The screens freezes and a window pops up that says sniperelitev2.exe has stopped working. I didnt even get a chance to see the main menu. I already tried redownloading, verifying game cache and restarting com and still no results. Anyone have a solution?

I'd like to try that out, because verifying my game cache didn't work.

Since my problem was related to power management I think my issue happens only to laptops. Is yours a laptop? Does it gets, at least, to the rebellion intro?

If you're playing on a laptop with any sort of Hybrid/NVIDIA Optimus type of setup where the GPU is switchable, you should set NVIDIA GPU to be your default globally within NVIDIA CP > Manage 3D Settings > Global.

You should also have your Windows Power Profile set to High Performance.
